Question #1: What is the name of the Cartoon Character that had a
black cloud over its head all the time? I have not seen this cartoon
in the daily papers in 40 or 50 years.

Question #2: What is the name of the Cartoon Strip that the character
with the black cloud over its head acted in?

Many thanks for your help. Mel Kimmel

Hi mcmel:

I believe the character you are thinking of is Joe Bfstplk, from the
famous "L'il Abner" comic strip by Al Capp. Joe was constantly
followed by his own rain cloud.

L'il Abner ran from 1934 to 1977.

There is an *excellent* biography of Al Capp (1909 - 1979), along with
pictures and descriptions of all the L'il Abner characters (including
Mr. Bfstplk) at:

http://www.lil-abner.com/

Hope this helps you revisit old days!
