Paflafa, 12 months ago I loaned my gold rolex to my 25 year old son. He
had two links removed to fit his wrist. Has now returned the watch but
has lost the two links. It is a "Presidential Band" and these (gold)
links are readily available from hundreds of authorised Rolex Dealers
worldwide. Trouble is they charge like a wounded bull for them. Please
source me two second-hand ones. My question is: Where can I purchse
two second-hand gold rolex watch links for a Presidential Band. To be
fully answered I need the address of a supplier who can supply these
two second-hand links immediately, at a price considerably lower than
new ones. Go for it pafalfa and show me how versitile you are. A
promise of a tip to the max will hopefully encourage you to follow
this one through for me. Warning!! a couple of sites have these links
advertised for sale but dont actually have them in stock. They order
from Rolex once they have been paid. I dont want to fall into that
trap! And I definitely want second hand (re-cycled) ones. More
Patina!! Please double check before passing on your answer to me.
Thanks from: Roger

I appreciate the confidence you've shown by directing this question my
way. I'm not sure if this will turn out to be easier or tougher than
your printer questions, but I'll certainly have a go at it.

One question though -- is this a white gold or yellow gold band?

Wish me luck....!

Hi Paf, Mate this has gotta be a "walk in the park for u".
And the clarification you seek is gold gold (yellow gold).
Funny you should ask that, 'cause I never think of white gold (silver
gold) as gold. Up in the Northern Tip of australian (in true crocodile
country) I actually own an old deserted gold mine and I've never once
found a silver nugget. Plenty of yella ones though. Got a state of the
art metal detector and it's a great escape geting lost in the Aussie
bush and finding gold nuggets as big as small egg sometimes. I
digress. Get on with finding those links for me paf and I'll tip
generously if you come up with something within the next 72 hours.
Kind regards and thanks for your help from: Roger

Hello again Roger.

You're getting to be quite a regular around here. Nice to have you on
board (and I know I'm speaking for several of the GA researchers when
I say that).

Since you asked me to "double check" before answering, I'm posting
what I have here. If it suits your needs, I'll repost it as an answer
so I can collect my fee.

I think I've found a good link to your links, if you get my drift.
Here's the best that I've come up with:

http://www.tnsdiamonds.com

TNS Diamonds, on 8th Street in Philadelphia, otherwise known as
Jeweler's Row.

You can see pictures of the store (outside and in) at the link here:

http://www.tnsdiamonds.com/tourtns.htm

Andrew at TNS Diamonds tells me he has two options that would suit
your needs:

After market 18k gold links at $135 each -- these are not original
Rolex, but I'm told they are indistinguishable.

Genuine 'recycled' Rolex Links are about $195 each, but vary a bit
depending on what year watch you are buying for -- there have been
minor changes in recent years, but both older and newer links are in
good supply.

Of course, there are additional fees for shipping.

You can contact Andrew at TNS Diamonds at:

TNS Diamonds Inc.
104-6 S. 8th Street
Philadelphia, Pa 19107
215-922-1501
1-800-586-1792

diamond.watches@verizon.net

----------

A number of other jewelers provided quotes; a few were about the same
as TNS Diamonds, and several others were considerably more expensive.
But to put it simply, I had the best feeling about the
offer/reputation of TNS.

If for some reason, TNS does not work out for you, let me know and I
will gladly provide additional information about other sources.

Cheers.

What'd I tell u Paf....a walk in the park for a good researcher like
u.
I've checked and the repro links are exact replica's made of real 18
ct gold.
They are absolutely indistinguishable from the "Rolex Branded" links
and at
only $135.oo each your have saved me just on five hundred bucks, on
this urgently needed purchase. Mate I am impressed. Please post your
answer and be prepared for for Roger's special "double-combo"....stars
to the max and tip to the max. Thank you again. And all in less than 4
hours.

I'm reposting the answer here, so as not to leave a big empty space.
Glad to hear it did the trick:

turned out you have saved me a whopping 680 bucks. I promised you max

Hi there,

I want to put my 2C in here. :) I had the same problem, different
Rolex band though... and went nearly crazy trying to find used links.
The bottom line is there was no Google Answers at the time, and I had
to buy new links!

Good Luck pafalafa! I sincerely mean that.

Thanks tlspiegel. I think I've got some good info for our friend,
bwll77, and will be posting it soon. If he likes it, I'm pouring
myself a celebratory glass of...beer! (more to my taste than
chardonnay, but to each his/her own...eh?)

Hi, Roger

A few months ago, I took a Rolex in for service to an authorised
dealer in the UK who quoted me a price of £90 (that's Pounds
Sterling).

A week later they got back to me and reported that the band also
needing fixing and wanted an additional £650! (I had never been aware
of any problem with the band.)

I took the watch back and went to an unauthorised repairer who
couldn't find anything wrong with the band and he serviced it for £60.

And it's been fine ever since.

Regards

Bryan
