OK - so here I am suffering from mental meltdown.

I am trying to remember hte name of a movie, that featured the song
"Build Me Up Buttercup" by The Foundations.

Stop

It is not "Something About Mary"

In this movie scene in my head, I see some of the cast singing the
song, during a scene in the movie. The scene revolves around a
wedding, or planning of a wedding. I just remember that, in this
scene, several members of the family are sitting around the dinner
table, in a nice house. They start singing this song, for what reason
I don't recall.

Anyway, this is about all I can remember. Every time I search on the
song, I get nothing but "Something about Mary". Not it. In that
movie, the song is at the end and in the background while the cast and
crew are goofing around.

In my movie, the scene is in the actual movie itself, and is sung by
several cast members.

Searched the IMDB unsuccessfully too.

Hi, Edrox ...

I bet you're referring to a scene from "My Best Friend's Wedding" ???

The scene where they're singing to each other in the bar, right?

Serenata

sure before I close the question out.

re: Mallrats

I know the song was in the movie, but it is not the answer to the
question because 1) its not the cast signing it, and 2)It doesn't
revolve around a wedding.

Serenata is probably right, and I just have my songs mixed up.

sigh... I used to be good at this stuff.

Hello edrox-ga,

I’m not posting this as the answer because I’m not sure it’s the movie
you are looking for.

"Build Me Up Buttercup" was also in the movie Mallrats" which came out
in 1995. I didn’t see the movie, and I can’t find anything that
mentions a wedding or anything that fits your description.

I believe Serenata is right. "My Best Friend's Wedding" has a charming
scene where family and friends at a pre-wedding dinner end up singing.
But the song is "I Say a Little Prayer for You," not "Build Me Up,
Buttercup."

Could it be that the connection of Cameron Diaz, who co-starred in "My
Best Friend's Wedding," and starred in "Something About Mary," has
caused a bit of morphing in your memory?

I agree with Pink: the song sung around the table in "My Best Friend's
Wedding" is "I Say A Little Prayer for You" made popular by Dionne
Warwick.

From http://www.toldyouso.net/search/details.cfm?tblDVDReview.RMovieName=Mallrats%2C%20Collector's%20Edition:

"Before the original song was made popular again by “There’s Something
About Mary”, the classic song “Build Me Up Buttercup” was recorded by
The Goops for Mallrats. The video for it was directed by and starring
Kevin Smith and features Jason Mewes as well."

I think Googlenut nailed it.
