Greetings Beezee:

What an interesting question! I found that I knew many Jones as both
people and references and I searched for others as well:

Carolyn Jones, actor
"This sweetly sinister seductress assayed a dozen '60s roles that took
her from drama (How the West Was Won, '62) to comedy ("The Addams
Family," '64-'66) to camp (five "Batman" episodes, '66)" In the 1950s
"she landed small roles in over a dozen prominent movies, including
Bob and Bing's Road to Bali in '52, Vincent Price's House of Wax in
'53 (she played the Joan of Arc wax figure), Frank Sinatra's The
Tender Trap and Marilyn Monroe's The Seven Year Itch, both in '55, and
Alfred Hitchcock's The Man Who Knew Too Much in '56."

Dean Jones, actor
"Jones was groomed by the studio to be the next James Dean — the angry
young man of Hollywood. MGM cast him in a series of dramas: 1957's
Jailhouse Rock, with Elvis, Until They Sail (1957), Torpedo Run
(1958), Night of the Quarter Moon (1959), and Under the Yum Yum Tree
(1963). Jones' career took a new turn when he was signed by the great
Walt Disney himself. Disney saw Jones in an episode of the television
series Ensign O'Toole and wanted him for the Disney production, That
Darn Cat (1965)."

George Jones, county music singer and songwriter
"As a young man he made his way performing in various East Texas
roughhouses, eventually hooking up with husband-and-wife singing team
Eddie & Pearl. He married the first of his four wives in 1950 -- the
third and most notorious marriage would be to the late, and great,
country singer Tammy Wynette..."

Davy Jones, singer
"It was on the strength of David's success and popularity on the
American stage that he was offered a contract with Columbia
Pictures/Screen Gems Television. Having signed him to their "stable"
of talent, they had the idea of creating a new television series
around this "young British kid" with a proposed story line about four
young musicians who were trying to make it in the pop world. The rest
is history. The Monkees was a phenomenal success, rating millions of
viewers throughout the world and selling millions of records. Even as
recently as 1986, The Monkees had ten albums in the Billboard charts."

'keeping up with the Joneses' (26). "

privateer, though he was often described as one. "

The Jones Diamond
"The "Jones Diamond" is a product of West Virginia having been found
in the town of Peterstown and county of Monroe. It has been described
by many expects as one of the finest blue-white diamonds ever
discovered and has been estimated by some experts as having a value of
more than $100,000.00 although it has never actually been
appraised...An alluvial diamond weighing 34.48 carats, largest to date
found in North American was discovered here in April 1928, by William

James Earl Jones, actor
"As a boy, James Earl Jones had such a severe stutter that, for eight
years, he refused to talk and was functionally mute. A high school
teacher who discovered Jones had a gift for writing poetry, and who
thought forced public speaking would help him out of his silence,
insisted that he recite a poem to the class each day. Jones claims
that he still stutters sometimes (it doesn’t bother him anymore) but
was mostly cured by being forced to speak to an audience."

Spike Jones! How could I forget him??

Spike Jones a.k.a. The Man Who Murdered Music
"Spike Jones was quite an interesting figure, a musical comedian
working in the vein of the Big Band sound in the 30s and 40s.
Assembling a group of top notch musicians who were never averse to
wearing wigs, playing toilet seats, or tuning gunshots to C-sharp,
Spike Jones and his band mixed the high and the lowbrow, the serious
and the comic, instrumental virtuosity and sonic hijinks into a blend
that startled and delighted audiences in a much more innocent time."

Casey Jones
"While Casey was rolling south, the stage was being set for his tragic
wreck...Engine 382 crashed through the caboose and several cars and
came to rest on the right side pointing back north. Casey was fatally
wounded in the throat. He was carried one-half mile to the depot were
he died lying on a baggage wagon. The railroad's formal investigation
concluded that "Engineer Jones was solely responsible for the accident
as consequence of not having properly responded to flag signals."
