Hi,

I have been able to locate couple of Personal Financial Advisors in Halifax,
Nova Scotia.Who is best financial planner is very much a personal decision and
the appropriate financial planner varies depending upon a persons needs and
financial diversity. I would recommend visiting the Financial Planner Standard
Council (FPSC) website before approaching any Financial Advisor Firm.

FPSC continues to develop and regulate standards that are relevant to the
current financial planning needs of Canadians. It recognizes the evolutionary
nature of these needs and works to keep abreast of them. The members of the
FPSC are Certified Financial Professionals (CFP) If you are just a beginner or
new to Financial Planning, the website contains the best information for you.
It would guide you through the process starting from facts and fantasies of
Financial Planning to Choosing the Best Financial Planner.

Here is the Website for FPSC,
http://www.cfp-ca.org/index.asp

Also, CNN published an article in 1995 as a "Guide on Finding Financial
Planner". Of note are these three recommended things to look for in a financial
planner:

1. That the individual be a CFP (Certified Financial Planner)

2. That he or she have a considerable amount of experience in the area -- "I
prefer five years of experience," he says.

3. That the planner be fee only. "Fee only means they get all their commissions
from you They have no interest in getting commissions for selling products," he
explained. Fees can range from US$50 to $300 an hour."

Take a look at http://www.daveramsey.com/alb/index.cfm it is a listing of
financial counselers that are endorsed by Dave Ramesy. There is a good book
written by him that is called "Financial Peace" and is very different than
most financial planners think. Dave was big into realestate and fell into the
trap of borrowing to get ahead, he has rebuilt his wealth with out debt and is
now helping others to get debt free and build wealth.
Check out his book and see what you think.
