We are a 501-c-3 tax-exempt organization and we need to file form 990.
We need to talk to a live person at IRS that would know how to answer
our
few questions. This is NOT for form 1040.

I asked this question in March-- Question ID: 161920 but it turns out
that the numbers I got are for an organization. I was referred to
contact a lawyer or IRS. So--- you great Google Answers researchers,
get me out of this pickle.

I tried the 800 number that I was given but it is for 1040 and doesn't
work anyway. What number to call for IRS help?

Howdy pendleton,

Your best bet might be and IRS office local to you. What city
and state are you based in? Thanks!

Looking Forward, denco-ga

Of course, that should read: "an IRS office."

Sorry. I live in Central "Old" Mexico. That is why we need a phone
number and for the office of IRS that handles that type of form.

Thanks, err, Gracias.

Hello pendleton-ga,

The US Embassy in Mexico City has IRS staff members whom you can call:

"Contact My Local Office Internationally"
Internal Revenue Service
http://www.irs.gov/localcontacts/article/0,,id=101292,00.html

There is also a number in the United States that you can call, as a
taxpayer other than an individual: 800-829-4933.

"IRS Offers New Toll-Free Numbers to Assist Taxpayers" (IR-2002-130,
Nov. 27, 2002)
Internal Revenue Service
http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=103554,00.html

You can also e-mail a question to the IRS, using the form on this
page:

"Tax Law Questions"
Internal Revenue Service
http://www.irs.gov/help/page/0,,id=13162,00.html

I hope that this information is helpful.
