I saw this Disney TV movie in the early 80’s. It was about a couple of
students, a guy and a girl, who pretend to be foreign-exchange
students from Italy.

There is a scene where the guy tells them the made-up story of how
pizza was invented. I think he also teaches them how to dance like
Italians, which he ad-libs hilariously.

At the end of the movie, the real Italian students finally show up.

What is the name of this movie?

leli-ga,

It does seem to me like that's the one. It would be tricky, however,
to confirm it if it's a TV movie and not available on video.

Anyone know how I could view a copy?

Hi markabe

Could it be "Student Exchange" (1987)?

Student Exchange was a TV movie that aired in two parts on "The
Magical World of Disney."

"When Carol comes to know that two foreign exchange students from
France and Italy were redirected to another school, she figures she
and Neil could take their places"

"In this comedy, two high school seniors pretend to be foreign
exchange students and suddenly find themselves among the popular kids.
They soon find that such popularity is a double-edged sword."

Let us know if this is it - or if we need to go on looking.

Thanks - Leli
