Some where to start (but in no way limited to) could be a name from an

Greetings Downunder16:

Thank you for the opportunity to answer this query and assist in
creating a brand name for your business. This is an interesting
challenge and thanks for providing key words and terms for idea
direction.

To begin, the Greek agathos or agathon would be a fine choice as it
pertains to "the good" - capability, service, morals. Utilizing the
term in a business name, you might consider it as a stand alone term
"Agathos" or coupled with another one of your suggested terms, such as
ProAgathos.
http://www.perseus.tufts.edu/cgi-bin/ptext?doc=Perseus%3Atext%3A1999.04.0057%3Aentry%3D%23261

You might also consider using the term Alpha (beginning) in various
ways.

In Latin, validus would be a good choice along the same lines:

"validus -a -um [strong , powerful; healthy, well; mighty,
influential]; of medicines, [efficacious]. Adv. valide, [strongly,
powerfully]; in replies, [certainly, to be sure]"
From http://catholic.archives.nd.edu/cgi-bin/lookdown.pl [Latin word
search - NOTE: used for all Latin words in this answer]

It brings to mind a valiant quality and works well as suggestive of
the professional aspect as in ProValidus. In the same Latin vein,
fidelis might be considered because of its familiarity with fidelity.

"fidelis -e [trusty , steadfast, faithful]; m. as subst., esp. pl.,
[confidants, faithful friends]. Adv. fideliter, [faithfully; securely,
without danger]."

ProFidelis denotes professional fidelity in my mind and relates a
security in choice.

Other Latin words to consider as a brand:

Diligentia -ae f. [carefulness , attentiveness, accuracy]; esp. [care
in management, economy].

Securitas -atis f. [freedom from: care; peace of mind; composure;
carelessness; false confidence]. Transf. [freedom from danger,
security].

Acclaro -are [to make clear , reveal].

Quaestor -oris m. [one of the quaestors , magistrates in Rome,
occupied with matters of law and finance].

***********

IntelliPlan would catch my eye as it suggests an intelligent planning
service. As a consumer, I prefer a name that identifies the general
concept of a business.

***********

Regarding astrological terms, here are a few to consider:

Ephemeris : Tables of planetary positions for any place on earth.
This term would be interesting to use in the sense of financial
"positioning" - I like the look of the word and the ease of
pronounciation.

Equinox : Point where the ecliptic and equator cross in the heavens.
Also known as the Vernal Equinox, at O degree Aries, first day of
Spring season; and the Autumnal Equinox, or O degree Libra, first day
of Fall season.
A point of crossing - perhaps indicative of an individual crossing
from not planning to securing their financial future.

Heliocentric : Refers to the Sun as the center. A separate branch of
astrological study.
This could be used in referring to the customer investment as the
center of your attention.

Although I was already familiar with the terms, I located the
definitions below at www.elore.com/Astrology/Glossary/general.htm.
Another astrological glossary may be found at
http://www.astrology-numerology.com/glossary.html that defines:

Akashic - a term I really like that is associated with astrology.
"Akashic records The memory of nature. Akashic is a Sanskrit term
referring to the etheric substratum of the universe. A permanent
record of every event, sound, sight, or thought that has occurred
during the history of creation is stamped upon this electro-spiritual
substance."
Akashic has both an old and new age feel.

"Ascendant The degree of the zodiac rising over the eastern horizon of
the birthplace at the moment of birth. This degree forms the first
house cusp of a horoscope and is of great personal significance in the
character and life of the individual."
The name "Ascendant Futures" implies upward growth of finance as well
as suggesting an individual's strong desire to acheive.

"geniture From the Latin, birth or origin; used in astrology to refer
to a birth or a natal horoscope. See also natal astrology."
AlphaGeniture

To sum up my answer with a few more suggestions than you requested:

ProAgathos
ProFidelis
ProValidus
Focus Diligentia
Securitas
AlphaAcclaro
Quaestor Services
IntelliPlan
ProAkashic

Hi journalist

Thank you very much for your prompt reply.

I feel we have a good start and I liked the connection you made
between the meaning of each suggestion and my chosen keywords.

I would like to exhaust other avenues before deciding on a business
name that will ultimately be a flagship for my company for many years
to come.

The suggestion of Intelliplan appealed to me a little. Could you
please explore this type of name, as you said, it incorporates my
business concept in the name without mentioning actual financial
planning business in the words. I would like 5 to 10 suggestions
along this line please as this avenue may well be the direction I take
in the end.

Could you also give me 2 or 3 of you preferred suggestions for names
based on the following categories

The 5 elements of the earth, namely

fire,
earth,
metal,
water and
wood.

Also 2 or 3 of your best suggestions for any other Feng Shui terms you
may think appropriate.

Could you also do the same for the following categories.

Significant geographical land marks, particularly (but not limited to)
Australian landmarks. Famous people, philosophers, scholars etc.

I look forward to your suggestions.A brief explaination of your
thoughts on each name would be great.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Would you have the time to take a look at the listings of Australian
landmarks at http://www.argotlibrary.com/auland_marks.html and tell me
which words/terms strike your fancy to be used for name suggestions?
Not being from Australia, I want to be certain I use terms that mahy
would recognize.

Thanks,
journalist-ga

Hello,

Thank you for your suggestions so far. They have helped me focus on
what i am looking for regarding a name.
Could u please focus your energy on a name that identifies the general
concept of my business (one of your first suggestions) Whilst i am not
keen on IntelliPlan. I do like your thinking behind the suggestion.
Please keep in mind that I do not want any reference to financial
planning in the name.I have included some of my first brief for your
reference.

Since you didn't address the landmarks link and restated your original
thoughts, I'm assuming you want to go back to the beginning on your
request. In line with that, I'd like you to consider:

OptiForce - This sounds very positive to me - optimal, options and
strength is what it conveys to me.

MultiForce - same as above in positivity yet denotes a wide range of
services

IntelliForce - an intelligent force

NeoForce - a new force

I like "neo" a lot and it's doubly popular because of the Matrix
movies - Neo is the "savior" of those films. For Generation X, using
"neo" would denote a certain savvy and freshness, a contemporary feel.
Also, "force" is extremely identifiable as in "May the force be with
you"

NeoActive

NeoSense

NeoFocus

I had completed the Feng Shui request before you went back to the
source requirements so I'll include my findings and suggestion about
that
Feng Shui terms
http://www.angelfire.com/vt/paganteachingcircle/lessons/feng.html

Probably, the most recognizable Feng Shui terms are ch’i and “yin and
yang” and the term “feng shui” itself.

Ch’i- energy or life force of all living things – also spelled “chi”
Elements-
Fire: color-red; direction-south; dynamic, inspiring, understanding,
motivating, enthusiastic, intelligent. Fire shaped buildings contain a
lot of sharp angles (triangular, A-frame)
Earth: color-yellow; direction-center; reliable, sincere, dependable,
loyal, kind, responsible, solid, stable, nurturing, helpful. Earth
shaped buildings are square and squat
Metal: color-white, gold; direction-west; abundance, material success,
clear thinking, attention to detail, aesthetic. Rounded and curved
buildings
Water: color- black, blue; direction-north; social activity,
communication, wisdom, intuitiveness, sensitivity, spiritual, enjoy
learning. Shapeless buildings
Wood: color- green; direction-east; creative, nourishing,
family-minded, flexible, growth, challenges. High-rise buildings, many
floors

Yin & Yang- represents the two opposites in Taoist philosophy,
complementary, cannot exist independently

Pa-kua- eight-sided symbol used as a protective talisman; used in
rooms to help create the best furniture placements

My Feng Shui suggestion would be Elemental - this is just a simple and
straightforward name denoting a universal completeness for me. It
wasn't easy for me to associate Feng Shui terms with financial
planning - they didn't lend themselves to a memorable name for me.

Some of the meanings of the elements I liked:

AbundantOptions
TriForce
NeoNurture (I like this but I associate nurture more like a home
nursing firm than a financial planning company)

Please review these and clarify where necessary. I've been thinking
on and off for a few days on these and trying them out on my friends.
The ones they seem to gravitate towards are:

OptiForce
NeoForce
NeoActive
TriForce

What about "ACCUMULUS"
As a name it brings several things together, Financial proactivity,
positive feel, classic tone to the name, cumulus- clouds ie air made
of water and conductor of lightning. Well this is just a thought and
if it helps good.
