I am seeking information on the charitable contributions and
philanthropic activities of the Chairman President and CEO of Landry's
Restaurants, Inc., Tilman J. Fertitta. His company owns and operates
seafood restaurant chains around the nation including Joes Crab Shack
and Landry's. (http://www.landrysrestaurants.com/) This is likely
the first of a series of questions. I am seeking a exaustive list of
charities to which he has made contributions, any articles about these
interests, and any organisations where he serves on the board. As you
see on the Landry's home page he has garnered quite a bit of press
over the years.

Expect the unexpected in the world of Houston politics
IT'S FUNNY how things work out

“In September 1996, Houston restaurant king Tilman Fertitta, a
big-time contributor to the Clinton-Gore ticket, stood in the back
yard of his Memorial-area home and positively glowed as he hosted an
elaborate fund-raising event for the Democratic National Committee. The
guest of honor was none other than President Clinton, who was five
weeks away from winning re-election against Bob Dole. Land
Commissioner Garry Mauro, a Clinton confidant, praised Fertitta for
producing "the largest fund-raiser held in this election in a private
home."

“A year later, Clinton returned to the Fertitta digs for another
fund-raiser that netted $600,000 for the party”

“Fertitta said that he had supported the Bush-Quayle ticket in 1988.”

Party Gifts by MARIAN CURRINDER

“The Democratic National Committee particularly has benefited from
in-kind catering and lodging gifts for fund-raising events, FEC
records show. Individual in-kind catering contributors to Democrats
included Ohio attorney Stanley Chesley ($39,771) Texas restaurateur
Tilman Fertitta ($37,580); CNET, Inc. CEO Halsey Minor ($16,597); and
Las Vegas Sun editor Brian Greenspun ($12,648).”

Thank you for your research this is exactly what I was looking for.

Landry's also operates a couple of aquariums and has just acquired a
third in Denver. Did it appear that there were charitable
contributions to these entities. Did they come up in your search? I
am trying to determine if there is a non-profit partner in the
aquariums.

Thanks again,

Henry

Dear Henry,

I am delighted that you were pleased with my research.

I did additional research and unfortunately I did not encounter
information about a non-profit partner in the aquariums or charitable
contributions to these entities.

Perhaps if you subscribe to GuideStar you may locate something.
