In theory, there are many possible ways to invest 403b funds in real
estate.
However, the range of investments possible ordinarily depends entirely
on how your employer administers the fund. Most employers make
available a relatively limited number of investment options.
For instance, at my place of work, I can invest my retirment finances
in any of six individual funds that are designed to track various
market segments (S&P500, small caps, etc). However, none of them are
real estate funds so, in my plan, I don't have a real estate option.
Other plans can be much more diverse, however, and offer real estate
investments as well as conventional stock and bond options.
If you can let me know who you work for, I can check to see if
information is available about investment options for you.
Alternatively, you can check with your 403b administrative office
yourself, and save fifty bucks in the process.
Your call. Let me know how you would like to proceed.
