I know of a recent question with same title.... However, my problem is that I booked a ticket and now I no longer want to go... Do airline companies ever take into consideration that someone's life may have changed since the time of booking? This question may be very subjective but I need to know if there is any way out!!!!!!!!!!!! And get my money back :( | |

Unless you purchased a refundable ticket (full price), most likely you can not cancel the ticket. There are certain exceptions like a real medical emergency and the hospital bills to prove it, a death certificate of your immediate family, or something similar. Even then, the airline may only allow you an allowance towards a future ticket. That is the risk you take every time you purchase a discount ticket. |

on a worldwide level most tickets are refundable within validity period. depending on whether the ticket is cheap ( discount ) special offer or full price, a refund may be 100% or minus a deductable - usually in the range of 25% or 50-100 US $. One point is in common with most tickets, they usually are refundable only at the ISSUING ticketing-/travel-agent - independent of carrier / air line. that means where ever you purchased your ticket - to that office you go within validity period of your ticket - best BEFORE flight date as some tickets EXPIRE and lose their value if flight arrangements have NOT been cancelled prior to the actual flight. the sooner you cancel the greater your refund may be. tickets for charter flight usually are NON-refundable but sometimes transferable to another person ( name needs to be changed on ticket ) and YOU - the canceling person - are the one to provide the new other person replacing you. remember: the OFFICE you purchased the ticket is your partner to call asap as soon as you are sure to cancel your flight. IF refund is impossible and validity period of ticket is longer - the last chance that may remain is to CANCEL the flight, keeping the ticket and use the ticket at a later date. you still may have to cancel the flight already booked BEFORE flight date to free your seat for another passenger in time - else you may either have to pay a fee for no-show or lose your ticket-refund option. policies may vary form carrier to carrier, international copetition forces all airlines to be cooperative and human. |
