Hello oedipa-ga,

I’ve located a variety of resources for you to help you find a pain
internship in the visual arts. I’ve identified a number of
organizations that sponsor paid arts internships. As I was following
various leads for these, I was also able to locate individual paid
arts internship postings. Finally, there are lots of websites that are
dedicated to helping people find internships. You can use these
resources to continue your research for internships in the arts.

In addition to using the links I've posted, I also suggest that you
contact your own school to see what resources they have for helping
you find an internship. Be sure to check with you college's career
center and with the head of your department. If you have a geographic
preference where you want to work, look for special resources in that
community. If you have a specialty area in visual arts, look for
associations and organizations that might be able to give you
specialized information. Networking in your field might also be
helpful. Talk to people who are knowledgeable about your specialty and
ask them for suggstions on how to find (or maybe even create) an
internship that will meet your needs.

Best wishes for your arts career.

Summer Job and Internship Resources
Arts & Entertainment
Types of Internships Available

Although arts and entertainment is a growing industry in the US,
starting pay is generally low. Unpaid internships are the norm because
the competition to gain entrance into the field is fierce.

"You have to pay your dues" is one of the most often heard phrases
when starting out in this industry. It makes good sense to take an un-
or low- paid internship while you are in school and have family
support or financial aid. Workers in the arts and entertainment
industry enjoy the prestige and satisfaction of knowing that they
contribute to a product that impacts the public realm, but they must
be willing to make potential financial sacrifices.
