Question ID: 268460
I want to register URLs anonymously and am looking for low cost
providers.

Background:
To save money and make good use of resources under my hosting plan, I
have registered a main domain as normal with a typical host through my
business. I also wish to register a number of URLs that redirect to
dedicated folders under the hosted SLD. These will include sites for
my commercial identity, family websites, image and utility databases,
and files referred to in discussion forums, etc. I wish to register
the forwarding domains annonymously because (a) I don't seel safe
passing out my contact details - I get enough spam already and (b) I
don't want business associates and competitors browsing around my
family's sites, etc.

Therefore I require a service that:
* provides URL registration and redirection (preferably normal _and_
frame redirect) and preferably a few webmail or POP3 accounts.
* provides proxy (ie their own) WHOIS information. I don't need
protection from the law; just from casual perusal.
* offers the service for a reasonable price. I pay $9 per year for
standard registration and redirection and hope I don't need to double
it to just use someone else's name and address.

Deliverables:
* Up to five urls of anonymous registrars that offer redirection at a
decent price. One will do if it suits my purposes. I don't need a
detailed write up or an explanation of search terms.

To save time, you may refer to the earlier answered question on the
same topic - but that referred to full hosting.

As a clarification, I think this service is refered to as an anonymous
external domain manager.

Hi again,

I register many domain names, and in my experience RegisterFly has the
best combination of prices, features and reliability.

RegisterFly
-----------
Domain names are $10 or $8 if you transfer. Sometimes they have 48
hour sales when the prices are a little cheaper. They have all the
features you require, like redirection - the list of features is here:

ProtectFly
----------
RegisterFly's WHOIS privacy service. $10 per year for 5 domains, or
$2.50 per year for one:

Others
------
GoDaddy - WHOIS protection is $9 per year
http://www.godaddy.com

Dotster - NameSafe is $10 per year

Hi again, robertskelton-ga!

Yes, your recommended registerfly.com basic service beats my (already
pretty good) existing service hands down. At At only $1.01 per domain
more than I currently pay I'll be getting 10MB hosting, webmail and
POP3, spam protection and a whole bunch of other utilities. And more
importantly, your WHOIS protection facility is the cheapest I've seen.

I'm going to push my existing domains across when they come up for
renewal. If you every decide to move to a _better_ registrar, post me
a comment here or on one of my active questions and I'll post you a
new question!

Thanks for the rating and generous tip!

I'll let you know if anything better comes along, but I doubt anyone
will be able to offer better without going broke, or having something
nasty in the small print.

An excellent answer.

Your recommended service provider not only beat my cost target by 80%,
but I got a bunch of other valuable features and benefits I wasn't
expecting. Here's a $8 tip on a $2 question.
