I have frontpage 2002 and windows 2000. The changes I make on my
local site will not publish to the remote site. A new page will
publish fine but when I make changes on an existing page it will not
publish. If you need more information please ask |

Dear Endo,
Normally no there is no error message. I think you have probably
solved the main problem by having me go to Options and check the
setting as you suggested.
But now I have another problem besides the first problem. I am now on
a Satelite system. I click on File then Publish Web then I type in my
remote web server address then my password. I get an error message
that says cannot find server check your proxy settings. The person
that set me up on the satelite had to change my proxy settings for the
(Starband)satelite system. And now my Frontpage publishing and
Microsoft Outlook send/receive does not work either. I will pay more
money another $10 or however much is fare to answer this next problem.
Thank you
Craig

Hi,
Do you know what settings the person changed? I assume that the method
you are using worked before and that Internet browsing works for you?
Can you access the remote server using your Internet browser, such as
Internet Explorer? Both Outlook and Frontpage use the default Windows
Internet/proxy settings. Can you check if you can use Outlook Express
to send and receive email?
Thanks.

I tried Outlook Express but I am not set up for it. Yes the answers
for the 2nd questions can be answered in the first. I just want to
make sure you get paid whatever is appropriate.
I went to Internet Explorer tools and connection and Lan Settings And
this is what it says:
Automatic Dedect settings is checked
Use a proxy setting for your Lan is checked
Address is 192.168.1.1 Port: 9877
Bypass proxy server is checked

I will read the links you gave.
Your question:Does the advanced tab on the proxy settings look like this for the
ports (ignore the IP address)?
Answer when I go to Internet Explorer, tools, internet
options, connections,Lan, advanced tab, I don't see anything about
ignore IP adress.
it reads: http 192.168.1.1 Port: 9877
use the same proxy setting for all protocols is checked
Do not use proxy server with addresses begginig with :localhost

Hi,
Could you try unchecking the box saying use the same proxy settings,
and configure it so that it looks like in the picture, but keep
192.168.1.1 instead of 192.168.0.1. Just change the ports.

HI endo,
I got the front page and outlook express to work. It was a problem
with the Satelite router settings so that is Done. (i hope)
So I went into In the Publish Web dialog box, under Options on the Publish tab,
and seleced All pages, overwriting pages already on destination. and I
tried to publish again. it did recognise the remote site and
transferred the files. but when I checked the remote site. none of the
changes were posted. this is very frustrating. There must be some
little thing I am doing wrong but I can't figure what is is.

Hi,
You might also want to change the radio button under "changes". Try
the setting which is not currently selected. Also is the checkbox
"Include subsites" checked?
Thanks.

Hi endo,
I can't try and publish the web site until tuesday. I don't understand
"change the radio button under "changes". Where is this located?. what
is a radio button? Also when this is all finished just tell me how
much I should pay you.

Hi,
Here is a screenshot from my version of Frontpage under the
"Publishing" tab in "Publish site":
http://membres.lycos.fr/dbky/endo/frontpage.jpg
A radio button is a little button that looks like a circle. The
buttons underneath the "changes" option is a raio button.
If your version doesn't appear like that, the option must be somewhere
else. Let me know how it goes, if you still have problems I'll try and
find some other solution.
Regarding payment, you can tip a researcher up to a $100 after an
answer is posted. So once I post my advice as a formal answer, you can
feel free to tip any amount, which may reflect what the work is worth
to you.
Thanks.

hi
I tried yesterday and I had the same problem with the satelite as I
did origonally. It won't access the remote site. So I couldn't try
your solutions. I will try again tommorrow. If that doesn't work I
will have to try and use a friends internet access I am in a remote
part of Mexico so it is difficult. I can re ask the question and then
that will give me more time.
Thanks
