Greetings Probonopublico: I haven't found much at all but here's what I turned up: "His father's assistant Eddie Moore, who had ambitiously procured women for "the boss" for many years, took to supplying Jack as well sometime in late 1935 or early 1936." From http://216.239.39.104/search?q=cache:VuI9jlvnKtkJ:www.palmdigitalmedia.com/excerpt.cgi/0385505299+%22eddie+moore%22+%22joe+kennedy%22&hl=en&ie=UTF-8 "Gloria Swanson wrote: "Early in February (1931), Sport Ward wrote that he had seen him (Joseph Kennedy). Sport had been taking a golfing vacation in Havana and Palm Beach in late January. In Palm Beach, he said, he had met Joe Kennedy and Eddie Moore, in the company of a woman who had been on Sport's boat going down and who people told Sport - to his vast amusement - was Gloria Swanson." From http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Chateau/6060/swanson.html There are references in Swanson's papers collection as well. See http://www.hrc.utexas.edu/research/fa/swanson.foldi.html If I find more comprehensive information, I'll let you know. Hopefully, another Researcher will have a book to reference. You might also try searching the New York Times archive (articles from 1851-1995) at http://www.nytimes.com/ref/membercenter/nytarchive.html Best regards, journalist-ga SEARCH STRATEGY: "eddie moore" "joe kennedy" "eddie moore" "gloria swanson" "eddie moore" kennedy [searching "edward moore" kennedy brings up references to Ted Kennedy - I wonder if he was named after Eddie] [I also tried Edger, Edwin and Edward] |

Hi, Journalist Good to hear from you again. And thanks for looking. Yes, Edward Kennedy was apparently named after Eddie (Edward) Moore. Moore is mentioned in the bios about Joe that I have seen, and elsewhere. Please (anyone) dish the dirt! Regards Bryan |

Does he have no other names or initials that might better pinpoint the information? I searched the NY Times archives and found one reference to him in an article: CORRIGAN IS GUEST AT KENNEDY HOME:Has Luncheon With Envoy, Then Sees Sights of London, New York Times, New York, N.Y.: Jul 26, 1938. pg. 3, 1 pgs http://pqasb.pqarchiver.com/nytimes/98169375.html?did=98169375&FMT=ABS&FMTS=AI&desc=CORRIGAN+IS+GUEST+AT+KENNEDY+HOME However, I doubt the article has anything but a passing mention of Moore. This question is haunting because so little about him is forthcoming. I'll be keeping it in my mind and perhaps I'll find something. Best regards, journalist-ga |

Hi, Haunted Journalist Great to hear that you are still on the case. Please see my Clarification ... I could reveal more, much more, but not to a Journalist, particularly a Haunted One. For your own safety, I have to advise that four journalists who did investigate the case during WW2 learned that there are some things best left to rest. One American died very mysteriously, another was warned off, and two Canadians were interned in Britain for most of the war. Scary, isn't it? Kindest regards Bryan |

This is one elusive guy. I've found a lot of references to Moore, but it's always along the lines of "accompanied by Eddie Moore, one of his fiercely loyal aides." I did turn up mention of a wife, who survived Eddie, name of Mary. There is an Edward R. Moore in Biography and Genealogy Master Index, but it is most definitely not your man. Frustrating. I'm still here, Bryan, and still empty handed regarding Moore...and *still* giving it the old college try. The public library turned up nothing so far but I have a local friend/Researcher who has access to a large University library. I'm going to alert him to this question and maybe he'll be able to assist. Keep the faith, baby. ;) Best regards, journalist-ga |

Note to all. There are listings for one Edward Roberts Moore (1894 - 1952) in the following references, in case anyone has access to them: Dictionary of Catholic Biography. By John J. Delaney and James Edward Tobin. Garden City, NY: Doubleday & Co., 1961. Who Was Who in America. A component of Who's Who in American History. Volume 3, 1951-1960. Chicago: Marquis Who's Who, 1966. Might this be our man...? |

I'm still around. I'm just as stumped ;-). I was able to find a passing reference to Moore as well : FDR Library http://www.fdrlibrary.marist.edu/psf/box37/a339a01.html Many of these are unreadable, and have yet to be written in text format, but I think digging through them may prove fruitful : FDR Library - Kennedy, Joseph P.: July 1939-1940 Index That's about all I can find until I can get to the library. Good Luck! SgtCory |

Note : Although this 'Moore' is traveling with Kennedy, it could very well be R. Walton Moore, the Assistant Secretary of State at the time. Thanks SgtCory |

Hi, Sgtcory & Paf Edward Roberts Moore is not old enough: my Moore was 80 when he died in 1952. R Walton Moore is not our man either: my Eddie was Joe's faithful sidekick for many, many years. The Library Ref is definitely our man! Many thanks for all your efforts. Kindest regards Bryan |

The Edward Roberts Moore that pafalafa-ga mentions is NOT the guy. I checked him out in Who Was Who. He was a Catholic priest. And as you mentioned, the ages are off. At the least, you can rule him out. Regards, luciaphile-ga |

An "Edward J. Moore" died in January 2003 in Milton, Mass. Here is a link to his obit: http://www.miltontimes.com/News/2003/0123/Obituaries/054.html Maybe, just maybe -- could this guy be Eddie's son? Sounds like a chip off the old block. markj-ga |

Happy Holidays Bryan. I found the obit for Mrs. Moore, but nothing on Eddie E. If something turns up, maybe I'll post it as a holiday gift. All the best for the new year and beyond. paf |

Right ... I've now got the fix that I wanted on Eddie ... From old-fashioned books would you believe. But my sincere thanks anyway. Bryan |
