Background. A statue of Dante Alighieri stands in New York City at the
corner of West 63rd and Broadway. Begun in 1912, the monument was
dedicated 11/5/1921. Its erection was led by Carlo Barsotti and his
newspaper Il Progresso Italo-Americano. The sculptor was Ettore
Ximenes (1855-1926), whom one source describes as "born in Palermo,
studied in Florence, and worked out of a handsome villa in Rome,
executing some 50 monuments, including several for North and South
America and three in Russia." ( Lederer, All Round the Town: A Walking
Guide to Outdoor Sculpture in New York City, Scribner's, 1975).

Question. The foundry for the Dante monument is known to be Denigris
Brothers. My question is, in which country, state, and city was, or
is, the Denigris Brothers foundry situated

Hi, american markings,

I am in Brazil and found the information using Google and a lot of
time searching and trying multiple keywords. I think you will be able
to contact the Denigris monument company (and its various names) and
ask if they are the foundry you're looking for.

I think luntes-ga got the answer for me, and I'd like to pay the
person for that effort. How do I go about that?

Thanks.

Hello, americanmarkings,
I'm not a GA researcher, just a searching lover, and I was really
pleased to find the answer for you. It's free of charge.
Best regards,
luntes
