Question ID: 314506
I remember a TV programme concerning football (soccer) on BBC2 in the
UK which was a "one off" special a few years ago. I can't remember
the exact title (I have a feeling it was called "football heaven" or
something with the word 'heaven' in but I do know these facts about
it:

1. It was longer than average, a few hours at least (possibly 4-7)
2. It was a one-off programme, I believe it had the title 'heaven' in
3. It contained the "top 10 goals" of all time, including a curling
goal from Nelinho, a rocket from Bobby Charlton and a chip from George
Best.
4. It featured a game of very many fouls from World Cup History.
5. It featured quite a bit of Pele not surprisingly.

If anyone can positively identify this programme, I would be grateful.
I am sorry I can't give more information off hand but I remember
recording it and losing it and I have just called the BBC in London to
get no helpful response - the programme information unit is: +44 8700
100 222 or in the UK 0870 0 100 222.

Thanks for any help. I'd like a copy of this ideally and I will
definitely pay for it. Identifying the production company who made
this programme would be the icing on the cake.

If you need more clarification, I will do my best.

Re your reply:

The following column lists segments of a theme night that fits your description.

http://www.tapehead.co.uk/columns/morefootball.html

Brazil 1970: The Sexiest Kick-off
The World of George Best
Chile vs Italy 1962
The Ball Is Round
Football Hell

I was only able to find DVD/VHS copies of the following programs:

Football Hell
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000050YIN/douglascarpenter/026-4702759-1774005

Football Heaven (Although not on the above list you mentioned it yourself)

Maybe you can get back to BBC with those excact program names.

--------

Thank you very much. What you found on this web site definitely was
the night in question - I will now have to go back to the BBC and see
if they can help me find any of the companies who supplied this
material. I hope so...

Thanks very much. It looks like a challenging problem for me...

I suspect, from your description re the length & varied content, that
this was not one programme, but a compilation of several.

BBC2 was in the habit, a few years ago, of running "theme nights": a
whole evening of programmes (usually at the weekend) dedicated to a
single theme.

It is probable that there is no commercially-available version of the
complete schedule. However, you may be able to identify and acquire
some of the featured programmes individually, by doing dedicated
searches on the particular subject matter. There ARE
commercially-released videos/DVD's about "great goals", "fouls" and
the Life and Career of Pele, for example.

Most factual programmes screened by the BBC are their own productions
(or in association with another network). So it might help to work on
the initial premise that it's BBC titles you're interested in - not
stuff from other companies.
