I have tried to download the Eby toolbar and get it to appear, but it
says I have already downloaded it and I can't access it to make it
appear. How can I easily solve this problem?
Thank You |

Hi splipp,
What browser & version are you using?
In IE, go to View / Tools
Make sure Ebay Toolbar is checked.
Please let me know how that goes,

I am on ME, and I have done what you suggest, but the Ebay toolbar
does not appear for me to even put a check mark by it. I am using the
6.0.28 version of IE.

Hi splitt,
Make sure JavaScript and ActiveX controls and plug-ins are enabled.
Tools / Internet Options / Security Tab / Custom Level

OK, Java script and Avctive-X controls, and the darn thing still won't
download and appear on the browser.

OK, tried that, and it too does not do the trick. I had this toolbar
before and just can't figure out how to get it back again. I am quite
sure it is something simple that I am doing incorrectly, but I'll be
damned if I can figure it out.

Hi again topbanana,
I have done more research on the toolbar and have come up with
something interesting. If you're running SpyBot or another adblocker,
it may be blocking it as spyware.
Ebay toolbar is a very aggressive spyware program.
It tracks your Ebay movments.
Yes, it can be a helpful free tool. But "free" comes with a price - your
privacy.
I used to use it, but after I found out about it by using SpyBot I dumped
it.

Hi Hummer-
I did have Spybot, but dumped it and turned off the pop-up blocker
that comes with MSN. I also unloaded the Google toolar. Still, not
cigar. I just can't figure it out as I had Ebay as a welcome toolbar
for a long time. Now when I go to the Ebay toolbar dowload site and
try to download and answer yes to agreeing to the terms, absolutely
NOTHING further happens. This problem is driving me nutty since I am
sure it is something easily solved, and something I am doing wrong or
overlooking.
I will look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Stan,
I still think something is blocking the toolbar, it's the most likely
cause. But before we work on that...
1) In IE select Tools / Internet Options / Advanced / Disable Script
Debugging must be checked.
2) "Enable third-party browser extensions" must be checked (in the same window).
3) Temporarily change your security settings to "Low" for the toolbar
download, also disable your virus scan.
If that didn't help, download and run the following programs (yes,
SpyBot again), being certain to update them before running them.
Remove any references to the eBay Toolbar (and anything else that
shouldn't be there) that they find. Run HijackThis last and send the
log it makes to the forum - they will let you know if anything else
should be removed. After you have confirmed that you are spanky clean
and that you do not have any remnants of the eBay Toolbar on your
system, uninstall all of the programs you just installed. Reboot,
defrag, and anything else you can think of before trying to download
the toolbar again.
Online virus scan (nothing to download), it is very thorough and does
an excellent job: HouseCall:
