I'm having trouble uninstalling PC Doctor On Call. I've deleted the
files from my C drive. I've done a file search and deleted all files
containing PCDOCRX. I've gone to the control panel and removed one
program, but one remains, PC Doctor for Windows. When I highlight it
and click on Add/Remove, I get a message that says "Could not open
INSTALL.LOG file". An icon for PC Doctor remains on my desktop, and if
I click on it I get a menu that includes "Launch PC Doctor On Call"
and the program does still launch. How do I get rid of this program? |

Hi mary55,
It would seem that you are not alone - many users are trying to get
rid of the pesky program. Here are a few ideas:
"Hard to get rid of until I figured out that is also listed as
REALTIME. Delete this and it should be off your computer. Turn it off
in taskmon by ctrl-alt-del then do a search for REALTIME and delete as
well."

Also, go to Start / Run / msconfig / StartUp
If you find PC Doctor in the list, make sure it is unchecked. At least
this will keep it from loading at startup.
You could also try HijackThis.
HijackThis:

After you've scanned and saved the log it makes, go to the spyware forum:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/forums/
Sign in, go to the "Spyware and Hijackware Removal" section.
Press "New Topic", copy and paste hijackthis.log into your new message.
The good folks there should be able to tell you what you need to delete.
Please let us know if this has been helpful.
Thanks,

I think my problem has been resolved. One of the actions I described
to you must have worked, because the next time I restarted my computer
the icon had disappeared, and I don't get any pop-up messages from PC
Doc any more. The "PC Doctor for Windows" program remains on the
Control Panel, so I may try some of your suggestions to get rid of
that. Thanks very much for your help.

Good news, mary55, thank you for the update. Since your problem is
solved and you no longer need help, it would be best to expire the
question. Regards, hummer
