Question ID: 332523
I was looking at question
http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=330537 which contained
the definition of 100: "resilono" along with probonopublico-ga's
comment that a search for this bastian-ga definition turned up
nothing, and this got me thinking:

What is the shortest combination of letters that results in a "no
results found" Google search, and, what search strategy did you go
about trying to find this? I'll kick this off with a six letter zero
hitter: "qlktrx" - can this be bettered? Bit of an open question I
know, but the answer goes to the first 5 letter zero hitter, I'll open
up a new, high value question ($2!) if someone can find a 4 or a 3,
but I think it very unlikely that these are out there...

The other 'bonus' for the finder of unfound 'words' is the opportunity
to define them here for prosperity - what greater reward can there
be?! [BTW, my definition of qlktrx is: 'A word (as of 19th April 2004,
14:00 hrs GMT), for which there are no internet search results
returned']

Best of luck!

This is weirdly fun. Can we use non-alpha characters?

Hi fj,

As your question already got answered at probonopublico-ga's expense
http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=332534
do you want to adjust your criteria for this question?

This one looks good...

"ßöyä" - four characters only (thanks to my German keyboard)!

Is that a winner?

Scriptor *just* beat me to it (what else is new!).

I was just getting ready to post:

iñÚñ

I don't know what definition Sriptor has in mind for ßöyä, but for iñÚñ, I suggest:

iñÚñ 1. (n) An international religious order of holy women, mostly
from Spain (but at least one, perhaps, from France), who maintain
their congregation by meeting in cyberspace to reinforce their vows of
poverty, celibacy, and a totally spam-free life-style.

My definition of "ßöyä"? Hmmm ... since nouns are capitalized in
German, and since "ß" does only exist as a lower-case character, it
must be either an adjective or a verb. I'd say, it's an adjective,
meaning as much as: "Completely mad because of those crazy umlauts,
not to mention the ß".
As in: "Machen wir uns einen Spaß - sorgen wir dafür, daß dieser
Amerikaner völlig ßöyä wird!"

Great fun! As has been said elsewhere, we do seem to have a limitless
appetite for pointless diversions...

I think that eiffel-ga's observation made in
http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=332534
that xlktr and qjbzq appear in a G****e Group search should discount
them (sorry sublime!) and I'd be happy to accept eiffel's "qzyjr" into
my lexicon. Just think, in a few weeks / months time (after the next
G****e index update), no longer will the wandering surfer be
disappointed to reach a dead end on typing "qzyjr" but instead, will
be directed here!

Not too sure about all those non standard (ßöyä and iñÚñ) words -
you'd be unlikley to hear those in everyday conversation down the Hare
and Billet, but stunning definitions nethertheless!

The problem is that Google indexes the GA pages, so your words will
soon not fit the definition! However, there are a lot of people who
like to try to find words that are only listed ONCE on Google, and now
you have a head start!
