snugharbor,
I've been doing some digging around, and I think I have your answer,
but I wanted to talk with you first. I spoke with Reuters, and I have
a name and address to mail the press kit too. I also have a phone #
and an extension. However, I DO NOT have an email address, as I was
told that Reuters prefers all submissions through snail mail or fax.
However, the person I spoke with said you could mail the press kit in,
then call letting them know you had mailed it, and you would prefer to
have email contact from then on out. They could then call you back and
give you their email if they so choose.
I also spoke with the WSJ, who prefers that all press releases and
kits go to 1 specific email address, that they then sort to the right
department as they classify it. So, while I have where you need to
send it too, and a physical address as well, there is no name I can
connect to that email. After they sort it to the correct department,
it's up to the employee, if they feel it is newsworthy, to contact you
back. They said it was a policy to cut down on "junk" and harassment.
Since omnivorous was kind enough to provide a contact, that i did find
an email address for, you could also cc your email and press kit to
him as well as the general press kit email.
So, I have both places and how to correctly get your press kit to the
people who would need to see it. I just have slightly altered forms of
the information you requested. (I have names and e-mails for WSJ, I
only have name, physical address, and phone (since they prefer hard
copy of press kits) for the correct contact at Reuters) Please let me
know if you feel that would be sufficent as an answer, and if so, I
can post your answer as soon as I hear back from you.
