it's my main server at my pharmacy. ran latest virus updates on
mcafee this morning, all was well. started surfing as per normal.
realized the mouse clicks 2-3 pages in to all sites became IMPOTENT.
cant left or right click. it's like nothing is happening. my webmaster
assures me that even though something called LSASS.exe is running at
like 16,000, that's not the worm, as does mcafee. i DID tweak some of
my security options abit last nite, so need some answers quick if
possible . it's 2pm central and i really am in bigtime hurry. don't
want to leave my part-time pharmacists in a lurch. thanks |

Hi conovox,
Something to try quickly - download, "Check for Update Now", and Run Ad-aware:
Adaware (update before running):
http://www.spychecker.com/program/adaware.html
You should also try HouseCall, an online virus scan - but be warned,
it is very thorough and takes awhile (however, it does find things
that other programs miss).
HouseCall (very thorough online virus scan):

Please let us know how that goes -

Does it happen using any browser or does it only happen in IE (if so,
do you have the latest updates)? hummer

Have you tried using another mouse in order to rule out a problem with
the mouse? If it's a USB, did you check to make sure it is plugged in
securely?
If HouseCall and Ad-aware find nothing, try CWShredder:
CWShredder (update before running):
http://www.spychecker.com/program/coolwebshredder.html
If you're still not having any luck, try HijackThis (but this is not a quickie).
HijackThis (update before running):
http://www.spychecker.com/program/hijackthis.html
Post your HijackThis log on the following forum:

conovox...
If the problem isn't fixed by the excellent suggestion
of using AdAware, you might want to have a look at this
article on the Microsoft Knowledge Base, titled
'Performance decreases, response times for SPN queries
are longer than expected, and Lsass.exe CPU use peaks
at 100 percent on a domain controller that is running
Windows 2000':

Yes, restarting would be a good idea. Run HouseCall too (when you get
back if you don't have time now), even if Ad-aware solved the problem.
Have a safe journey - I'll look forward to hearing if your mouse
behaves itself over the weekend. hummer

Thanks for the good news, conovox! Only one researcher can answer a
question and get payed for it. If you'd like to pay more than one
researcher, you could lower the price of this question and post a note
that it is for **-ga, and then post a new question for the other
researcher (put "for **-ga" in the subject field). I'm happy to hear
that all is well with your computer - Regards, hummer

Hi conovox,
"if i need to do anything in terms of making sure the fee is paid, let me know."
Perhaps my last post was a bit confusing? In order for the fee to be
paid, you'll need to post another clarification and let a researcher
know that you want him/her to post the answer (name the researcher).
If you'd like to split the question between two researchers, lower the
price of this question and post a clarification to let one of the
researchers know that they can post their answer. Then, post a new
question for the other researcher.
If you have any questions, please let me know by posting a clarification.
