I heard this song by a female singer in an ARBY's. I believe it is
from the 70s or early 80s. The main chorus of the song says, "over and
over again". Kind of a sad, slow, easy listening love song.

I have searched the lyrics all over so I know that it isnt the title.

Please help.

Could the song you are referring to be ?Crimson and Clover? by Tommy
James & The Shondells (they sounded a bit feminine and could have been
mistaken for women but it was also recorded by a number of other
artists over the years including Joan Jett).

CRIMSON AND CLOVER

You will find a haunting sample of the Joan Jett version on this page:

Does this work for you?

Thanks, but that wasnt it. It was definitely a woman singing. The song
didnt have guitar, from what I can remember.

Man, this is eating me up inside. The song builds up to, "oooover and
oooover agaiiinnnn. Then drops to the begining of the song. Kind of
like the song was crying out to somebody.

Hope that helps...I can hear it in my head. lol.

Could it be Roberta Flack and Donny Hattaway- The Closer I Get To You?

The closer I get to you
the more you make me feel
by giving me all you've got
your love has captured me.

Over and over again
I try to tell myself that we
could never be more than friends
but all the while inside I knew it was real
the way you make me feel.

Lying here next to you
time just seems to fly
needing you more and more
let's give love a try.

Ohhhh, Sweeter than sweeter love grows
and heaven help us all
who fool with the tricks of time
with the hearts of love
they're dying to love
in a special way.

The closer I get to you
the more you make me feel
by giving me all you've got
your love has captured me. Me.

Over and over again
I try to tell myself that we
could never be more than friends
and all the while inside I knew it was real
the way you make me feel.

The closer I get to you
the more you make me feel
by giving you all I've got
your love has captured me.

The closer I get to you
a feeling comes over me, me to
holding closer, sweeter than gravity.
The closer I get to you.

Could it be SMILE by Audrey Hall. Cant remember much of the song, but
the chorus starts off something like "You smiled at me over and over".
If so it was a hit in 1986, her first hit was "One dance wont do"
earlier that year.

Sorry everyone, I have checked all your references and none are the
"one". I have searched all over P2P with no luck. I guess the only way
I will find it is to hear it again, but it has been over a year since
I heard it. I feel like Al Bundy in that one episode that he cant find
the tune until he sings it to somebody and they tell him.

Keep the ideas flowing.

The much beloved Canadian folkies, Kate and Anna McGarrigle, had "Love
Over and Over" from 1983. It has the "over and over" lyrics but it
seems too uptempo and more like "I Cried for Us." Kate's voice, the
piano, and that lone cello ... oy, hurtsville. If I didn't know of
these lovely ladies already, I'd probably be wigged out on horsey
sauce and hunting that song myself if I'd heard it in Arby's.

"Love Over and Over"

I could say love over and over and over
I could say baby baby baby 'til my tongue spirals out of my head
When there's no one looking over my shoulder
I like to write rock and roll but it doesn't always hang together
So what do I know
Or anyone know about love

You ask me how I feel
I said my heart was like a wheel
Why don't you listen to it sometime
I've walked upon the moors
On many misguided tours
Where Emily, Anne and Charlotte
Poured their hearts out
And what did they know
What could they know about love
Or anyone know about love

I'll keep checking the song lyric search engine in my noggin for other possibles,
V

could it be Neil Young.......At night when the sky is clear, and
the moon is shining down, my heart goes running back to you,
I love the way, you open up and let me in, so I go running back
to you over and over again. Over and over again my love, over
and over again with you. over and over again my love over and
over again with you. Ihope this helps you. Regards Phil

Okay, a couple of Mac shots in the dark:

Christine McVie's "Over and Over" from 1980/81 Fleetwood Mac's "Tusk."
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00009RAJJ/qid=1084783125/sr=8-1/ref=pd_ka_1/002-2685690-3801613?v=glance&s=music&n=507846

Could you ever need me
And would you know how
Don?t waste our time
Tell me now
All you have to do
Is speak out my name,
And I would come running, anyway

And I said
Could it be me, could it really really be?
Over and over

Don?t turn me away
And don?t let me down
What can I do
To keep you around

Over and over
Over and over.

Or Stevie Nicks "When I See You Again" from 1987 Fleetwood Mac's
"Tango in the Night."
http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=1100095&cart=189195337&style=music

And the dream says I want you
And the dream is gone
So she stays up night on end
Well at least there is a dream left

If I see you again
Will it be over
If I see you again
Will it be the same
If I see you again
Will it be over
Again and again
Over and over

And if Phil's suggestion of Neil Young's "Over and Over" sounds right,
Blake Babies did a cover of that tune off "Innocence and Experience"
but not till the early '90s.

Let me try to clarify this. The song had a climax and then the climax
dropped and had the words "over and over again" and it wound down. I
hope that I am being clear...I should have written the words down when
I heard the song.
