I am looking to produce some legitimate (not child) pornography
outside of the United States. The country I am interested in going to
for the purposes of recruiting models, and shooting on location is
Latvia. However, I can't find any definitive information as to the
legalities of such a venture. Please tell me whether or not it's
illegal to produce porn in Latvia. I already know that prostitution
is illegal, as it is here in the US. Please site legal references
that may be printed out as well as any licensing requirements.

Only answers with acceptable legal documentation will be acceptable.
You can't answer with a simple yes or no. A link to a document or
something is required.

Hi professorcuu,

I have found information showing explicit legal statement that child
pornography is illegal in Latvia, and it strongly implies that
producing adult pornography is not restricted. Chances are, this is
the best confirmation that one would be able to find because it is not
a restriction on anything. What I mean is that, just as there is no
law explicitly saying "You are allowed to make pornography movies" or
"you are allowed to own a television" in the US, I highly doubt there
would be such a law/statement in Latvia. If this would be an
acceptible answer, pleas let me know, and I can certainly post the
documents describing what restrictions there ARE (child, etc) on
pornography in that country. Thanks you.

Actually, after doing mroe research, this may not be true, and ALL
pornography may in fact be banned. I get the feeling that this is not
so, but I do not kno for sure, and I am awaiting a response from the
Latvian foreign affairs office about the matter.

I've found this link before I asked the question:
http://www.interpol.int/Public/Children/SexualAbuse/NationalLaws/csaLatvia.asp

It's from interpol. It seems strange, but it almost look like
pornography is illegal but you only receive a punishment if you're
caught twice, thus implying the first offense is a warning.

I'm anxious to hear from your Latvian foreign affairs officer.
