For ten months, I have gotten a great deal of relief for MS nerve pain
from Methadone, but I am having terrible memory problems. I have heard
that this is a possible side effect from Methadone. Does Oxycontin
cause these kind of memory problems? I know that it is very
expenssive, but I have gotten lost 3 times going to the dentist that I
have been going to for many years now, and am very, very concerned
that I may need to stop Methadone because of the above mentioned
problems.
Thanks,
Yesmam

Drug-induced memory problems? Gee, I've been there and done that. Or
at least I think I have.

This is a highly individualized thing, but in the course of my own
medical battles, I have many decades of experience with various kinds
of prescription pain medications. In my case, all opiates play hob
with my memory. For me, one of the worst was Percodan (which, like
OxyContin, contains the semisynthetic opiate oxycodone).

THANKS PINK. Are you on any pain medication right now, that have had
the least cause of memory problems?

Thanks Doc Pink.

I am not currently using any opiate analgesics on a regular basis,
just nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as naproxen and
ibuprofen. Personally, I would rather be in pain than live in a fog.

Yesterday, I saw the pain doctor and he said that there are no pain
medications that don't cause memeory problems.
It's a matter of thinking out things such as putting out all my
medication at the beginning of the day and taking test drives on
Sundays before going places.
The positive effects of Methadone outweigh the negative ones, and will
just have to use creativity to outsmart the negative side-effects.
Hope that you find help for your pain Pink.
