I'd like to get images of the Hotmail and Yahoo! Mail web mail user
interface they were around September 1999, but before December 1999.

The images I need are after a user has logged in, so it shows the
primary screen: with the
list of folders and the list of emails in the Inbox. The images need
to be from either a print magazine or another medium whose publication
date can be independently verified.

Suggestion is if anyone has old magazines eg PC World, PC Magazine,
Time, Businessweek, Fortune that might have reviewed these services,
with appropriate images of the Hotmail/Yahoo service, they can advise
which edition the images are in.

Could you clarify what you need there, please?

I use Yahoo Mail.  The primary log-in page shows the list of folders
but DOES NOT show the list of emails:

  You have 13 unread messages:
Inbox (12),  bulk2 (1)   
=====

I need to click on the folder of interest in order to get to the
actual list of my emails.

Am I correct in thinking you're looking for the 1999 equivalent of the
"Welcome David" page for both Yahoo and Hotmail?

Hi pafalafa-ga,
Your example of the CNN Hotmail page is spot on - unfortunately it
doesn't blow up so that it's readable. The equiavlent Yahoo Mail

The screens need to be no earlier than 1 June 1999.

I have a solution for you, two ways you can go about this.  One way is
to use these two images of the two interfaces from early 1999, the
only problem is that the hotmail is in japanese.

note that you can translate the text on the pages with babelfish
(http://babelfish.altavista.com/) to verify the dates and credit the
publisher.

The other option i can provide is to let me translate those images to
recreate a english version of the yahoo and hotmail 1999 interface.  I
am a professional Adobe photoshop artist and i am very capable of
doing this, however it would take some work and i would first like to
know if you want me to do this before i begin working on it.  I would
also be able to change the internet explorer frame to english, and
make the images larger while still maintaining the resolution. if your
interested please notify me.

photoshopped Japanese version won't work for me. I need it to come
from a location that can be independtly accessible or verifiable.
