I am looking for policies and procedures manuals from professional
associations that are available online. Ideally, I would like to find
manuals from a range of associations. To be clear, these are the
policies and procedures for governing and managing the associations
themselves (not, for instance, government policies or procedures on
how to do a process that the association members are interested in
doing). I have listed this at $20.00 for the first 10 manuals found
that meet my criteria and are presented as requested. I will tip an
additional $2 for each one found over 10 as long as it is of the same
quality as the examples (you may want to find a couple first to see if
you are on track). I will tip up to $100, thus for up to 50 listings
beyond the first 10. However, PLEASE find a few as examples first if
you want to go for the full 60 so that I may tell you if you are on
track.

Things that I DO NOT want include:

1. Policy manuals that focus strictly on a single facet of the
association (for instance a journal policy manual, human resources
policy, or budgeting policy manual) ? I am seeking policies/procedures
for the range of association services.

2. Policy manuals from outside the US or Canada ? please stick to US
and Canadian examples.

3. Policy manuals that are for small, local, volunteer associations ?
I am seeking manuals from large associations/societies that are
national or international in scope.

4. Policy manuals that actually are position statements rather than
?how to run the association? manuals. An example of what I don?t want
in this area is http://www.apa.org/about/division/cpminternatl.html

Examples of what I want, and how I would like them listed include
(alphabetically by association name, and including all of the listings
together in a final post even if you do them in smaller groups):

Group: American Accounting Association
Homepage: http://aaahq.org/index.cfm
Policy Manual Link: http://aaahq.org/about/manual/manindex.htm

Group: American Library Association
Homepage: http://www.ala.org/
Policy Manual Link: http://www.ala.org/ala/ourassociation/governingdocs/policymanual/policymanual.htm

Thank you! Please do not hesitate to ask questions.

Hello susank-ga,

You wanted diversity...I got you diversity. I stopped at the first
dozen or so to get your feedback. If they look like a good set, let
me know, and we can see about getting some others for you.

If it's not exactly what you need, please let me know before rating
this answer...I'm always happy to do some additional work on a
question to get you just what you need.

The list is below. It includes one or two government groups -- let me
know if government is not among the groups you're interested in.

Also, there are a ton of large school systems, large state/provincial
organizations, and other not-quite-national groups that have Manuals
posted. Are these of interest at all?

Let me know what you think. Here's the list:

==========

Hi! Good start. I'm really glad that you did a few and then checked
in. Here is feedback:

1. They have to be in the form as per the examples:

Group: [insert name of group]
Homepage: [insert link of homepage for group]
Policy Manual Link: [insert manual link]

then, no text (not the =========) of any sort between them, just a
double hard return - these have to fit into a specific template that
is already made with as little editing as possible.

2. You note: ?Also, there are a ton of large school systems, large
state/provincial organizations, and other not-quite-national groups
that have Manuals posted. Are these of interest at all?? The school
systems are a definite no, the others are a possibility ? but only if
they have a comprehensive manual that isn?t focused strictly on
volunteers and they are associations or societies with memberships.
Basically, we don?t need manuals that tell how to run a small
association/organization with your volunteers pitching in.

3. Here is a run down of the ones you have with feedback (although all
need to be in right format):

ASSOCIATION OF NORTH CAROLINA HEALTH AND SCIENCE LIBRARIES
http://www.rtpnet.org/anchasl/policies.html
ANCHASL
Policy and Procedures Manual

OK, BUT NOT GREAT BECAUSE ONLY ON STATE LEVEL RATHER THAN NATIONAL OR
INTERNATIONAL ? BUT THE MANUAL IS PRETTY GOOD.

==========

Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc.
Accreditation Policy and Procedure Manual
http://www.abet.org/images/Criteria/A004%2004-05%20Accredition%20Policy%20and%20Procedure%20Manual%2011-19-0%85.pdf

NO ? THIS IS HOW TO PERFORM AN ACCREDITATION RATHER THAN A MANUAL FOR
RUNNING AN ASSOCIATION.

==========

American Society of Opthalmic Administrators
Certified Ophthalmic Executive Program Policy and Procedure Manual
http://www.ascrs.org/certification/COEPOLICY.html

NO ? LIKE THE ONE IMMEDIATELY ABOVE, THIS IS HOW TO RUN THEIR
CERTIFICATION PROGRAM ? A SINGLE PROGRAM WITHIN THEIR ASSOCIATION ? WE
NEED MANUALS ON HOW TO RUN THE ASSOCIATION ITSELF

==========

Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials - International
APCO POLICY MANUAL
http://www.apcointl.org/about/documents/APCO_PolicyManual_Compiled.pdf

YES YES YES! PERFECT. ? THIS IS AMONG THE VERY BEST EXAMPLES

==========

Citizenship and Immigration Canada
Citizenship Policy Manual
http://www.cic.gc.ca/manuals-guides/english/cp/index.html

WAY OFF. AS FAR AS I CAN FIGURE OUT, THESE ARE POLICIES RELATED TO
BECOMING CITIZENS OF CANADA, AND HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH RUNNING AN
ASSOCIATION OR SOCIETY

=========

International Association for Language Learning Technology
Policy and Procedure Manual
http://iallt.org/official_docs/0602PolicyandProceduresManual.pdf

ANOTHER GOOD ONE.

==========

National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators (NACWAA)
Policy and Procedures Manual
www.nacwaa.org/images/pdf/policies.pdf

EXCELLENT

==========

National Parole Board
NPB Policy Manual
http://www.npb-cnlc.gc.ca/infocntr/policym/polman_e.htm

NO ? ANOTHER GOVERNMENT POLICY MANUAL FOR PAROLING CONVICTS. NOTHING
TO DO WITH AN ASSOCIATION OR SOCIETY AND HOW TO RUN IT (TO MAKE THIS
CLEARER ? ASSOCIATIONS OR SOCIETIES HAVE MEMBERS WHO JOIN THE
ASSOCIATION OR SOCIETY TO ADDRESS THEIR PERSONAL OR PROFESSIONAL
INTERESTS

==========

National Student Employment Association
Policy and Procedures Manual
http://nseastudemp.org/about/1.htm

GREAT EXAMPLE

==========

NEWFOUNDLAND CLUB OF AMERICA, INC.
NCA Policy Manual
http://www.newfdogclub.org/w_policy_manual.htm
[numerous links to very large -- 200+ pages -- manual]

OK ? BUT NO MORE FROM DOG GROUPS OR OTHER ?CLUBS? ? THEY TEND TO BE A
BIT OFF THE TARGET

==========

United States Bowling Congress
USBC Assocation Policy Manual
http://www.bowlingmembership.com/PDF/USBC/AssociationPolicyManual.pdf

GOOD

==========

Veterans Affairs Canada
Veterans Program Policy Manual
http://www.vac-acc.gc.ca/remembers/sub.cfm?source=vppm

NO ? ANOTHER CANADIAN GOVERNMENT EXAMPLE. I DON?T WANT GOVERNMENT PROGRAMS AT ALL.

==========

Women's International/Olympic Committee
Policy and Procedure Manual
http://www.usawaterpolo.com/2003AnnualMeeting/Convention-Packet/Women%27s%20International%20Olympic%20Committee/PnP%20WIOC.pdf

OK ? BUT NO MORE OLYMPIC COMMITTEE EXAMPLES, STILL SEEKING ASSOCIATIONS.

Hello again,

Sorry about the formatting snafu, but I think I've got it straight
now. Your feedback was a great help. The links below should lead you
to more than a dozen very good examples of the sort of manuals you're
seeking.

But don't be shy...let me know if any of them missed the mark, and
I'll be happy to find a viable substitute.

pafalafa-ga

P.S. NOTE that the US Bowling Congress entry doesn't appear to have a
clear-cut home page link. Also, I included a listing for one more
"club" as it seemed to be run pretty much like the type of
associations you're loooking for.

susank-ga rated this answer:4 out of 5 stars and gave an additional tip of: $10.00
Researcher did a great job at honing in on my project to ensure that
the answer was accurate. However, the answers were requested in a
specific format which, on the second try, still wasn't like the
examples provided. I'll need to do a bunch of cut-and-paste (certainly
doable, but annoying).

Hey Susan,

Thanks for the feedback and the very generous tip. Sorry about the
formatting thing. I guess you wanted the actual words "Group"
"Homepage" etc included with each record...somehow that just didn't
sink into my brain!

In the future, keep in mind that you are always welcome to post
additional Requests for Clarification until the answer is exactly as
you would like it to be. In fact, if you would like me to do the
re-formatting for you, just say the word, and I'm happy to oblige.

Will do. The research was the most important component. I can do the
cut and paste. If I was a researcher, by the third request for fixing
formatting, I would be ready to shoot the questioner so I give it two
tries and then move on if I can indeed fix it myself. Unfortunately,
most of my work requires restricted formatting.
