I am looking for a cable that has a standard laptop cd-rom drive
connector on both sides. I believe the I need it to be female on both
ends. The connector on the cable should be the same as the connector
on laptop cd-rom drives like in this picture:
http://lib1.store.vip.sc5.yahoo.com/lib/directron/sn324back.jpg If a
cable is not available any solutons are welcome.(Except for buying two
drives and pulling the connectors off which I have already tried but I
broke two already)
Here is what I am trying to do If anyone cares:
I am trying to put a laptop hard drive in the modular bay of my
laptop. I planned on buying two cheap laptop cd-rom drives and pull
the connetors off. I bought a laptop to standard IDE adapter and a
Laptop cd-rom drive to IDE adapter. I will connect the Hard drive to
the adapter and connect that adapter to the other adapter with a
ribbon cable and connect the power somehow. I will then connect that
adapter to the proprietary connector with this cable that I am trying
to find. I will include a nice tip for a quick and good answer.

You don't seem to be the only one.
from http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=132732

If you have http://www.baber.com/baber/products/slimline_cd_adapter.htm,
for instance...

a KX14-50 connector connects to a CD-ROM bay, which has a KX15-50 plug.
The laptop cdrom/IDE adapter above is apparently a KX14-50, as is the
internal media connector.

This means you need the KX15-50 PLUG(x2) and a 50 pin cable...
http://www.mouser.com/index.cfm?handler=displayproduct&lstdispproductid=502889
It'll need to match the 2 or 3 mm of the receptacle.

These are intended to be surface mount, so that is why there aren't
cables for this product.

If I could do it, I'd try my best to unseat the Receptacle connector
of the Slimline CD to Desktop IDE Adapter and put a PLUG connector in
its place, or make a comparable unit. Then, I'd connect the PLUG to
the media bay in the laptop and use a standard IDE cable to wherever I
needed. Maybe someone else has a better plan.

Exactly what I wanted, crythias, Thank You! I should have asked on
here before I bought two laptop cd-rom drives to get these parts.
