reported increased sales of rimless-style glasses. In recent weeks the
look has even been sported by Prime Minister Tony Blair.
And, whether customers recognise it or not, retailers reckon the
increase in interest is all down to Sven''s style.
At the Dolland and Aitchison city centre store, manager Anna Smith
estimates that sales of the distinctive spectacles have risen by a
"significant" 15 per cent since the beginning of the World Cup. And
she is in no doubt that purchasers are emulating Sven''s strong image
of leadership. "People have seen Sven as a strong leader and that
tends to influence people''s decisions," said Ms Smith. "They do give
you a fairly distinctive look, which can look professional and
intelligent.?
