lifetime as one of the greatest jazz composers and performers.
Nicknamed "Duke" by a boyhood friend who admired his regal air, the
name stuck and became indelibly associated with the finest creations
in big band and vocal jazz. A genius for instrumental combinations,
improvisation, and jazz arranging brought the world the unique
"Ellington" sound that found consummate expression in works like "Mood
Indigo," "Sophisticated Lady," and the symphonic suites Black, Brown,
and Beige (which he subtitled "a Tone Parallel to the History of the
Negro in America") and Harlem ("a Tone Parallel to Harlem")?

Hi bobbie7-ga,
Thank you for your great answer.

I want similar summaries on 5 more Jazz greats. Would you be
interested in doing this as another question for $50.00?

Also, I'm looking on doing famous musicians/singers from other types
of music: Funk, Blues, Reggae, Big Band, Country and Western, Origins
of Hip Hop music etc. I basically need summaries of 6 main
personalities and portrait photos (good enough to do a caricature
from) for each type of music. Would this interest you?
