Interesting question but I don't think that there is an easy answer. According to Peter & Leni Gillman 'Collar the Lot' (1980) there were 19,200 internees scattered throughout Britain from Seton in Devon to the remote parts of Scotland with the largest proportion in the Isle of Man. Several camps are mentioned in the book. There's also 'A Bespattered Page' by Ronald Stent, also published in 1980. Well worth getting! I wouldn't know if they Cover the Lot! (bad pun intended) but they should give you a great start. |

This may be helpful: "Internees: First and Second World Wars" 5. Internment Camps, Second World War: "Nominal lists of internees can be found in HO 215. These records are arranged by name of internment camp ..." 10. Further Reading: R Kershaw and M Pearsall, Immigrants and Aliens (PRO, London, 2000) http://www.catalogue.nationalarchives.gov.uk/RdLeaflet.asp?sLeafletID=224 "The camps were situated throughout the United Kingdom but the largest single concentration was on the Isle of Man. There were also camps in Australia and Canada to where several thousand internees were deported": http://www.catalogue.nationalarchives.gov.uk/displaycataloguedetails.asp?CATID=7770&CATLN=3&Highlight=&FullDetails=True |

There's a Microfilm at Kew which may or may not be helpful: HO 396 This series contains records of mostly Germans, Austrians, Italians and their spouses who were interned or considered for internment during the Second World War. I haven't looked at. |
