What is the word which means "a book of quotations"? I have heard it
said before and believe that it is a two syllable word.

It is a singular word.

It is not a form of a pronoun, a.k.a. "Bartlett's". It is a generic
word for any book of quotations (not just Bartlett's).

Thank you all, all good stabs, but no... this word pertains
specifically to a BOOK of only QUOTATIONS. It may be used to describe
a PERSONAL book (similar to a journal, but containing only quotations)
as well as a REFERENCE book.

This word is used by itself... not preceeding another phrase such as
"of quotations". I am not looking for a phrase of the format "a(n)
________ of quotations"... A short phrase such as "of quotations"
following this word (which is a noun referring to the book) does not
further specify the nature of the noun since the word defines ONLY a
book of quotations. Further specification would be redundant... I am
looking for a single WORD. It would be used in a phrase such as "Hey,
that's my ________." or "The library is missing a(n) ________."

Compendium springs to mind, but it has four syllables.

If you're in the United States, perhaps you've heard it referred to as
"Bartlett's," a well-known collection of famous quotations put
together initially by John Barlett.

Could you possibly be thinking of a "concordance?" As you may know, a
concordance is what you might consult if you can't find a quotation
you are looking for in a dictionary of quotations. This is what one
comprehensive description of the contents of a reference library has
to say about a concordance:

"Suppose you are trying to find where "the cross blue lightning" occurs in
Shakespeare's plays. You try some quotation dictionaries, but the line
you are looking for is not included. Now is the time to use a
concordance."

"A concordance is an alphabetical list of the words used in a certain book
or by a particular author that identifies the passages in which the words
occur. Some concordances cover the complete works of an author as in a
concordance to all Chaucer's writings, while others cover single works,
for example, a concordance to Dante's Inferno or to the Bible.
Concordances exist for the works of most important writers in world
literature and major translations of the Bible. When using a
concordance, it is important to determine what edition of a work the
concordance is based on."

More on "analects":

"literary extracts: passages selected from one or more literary or
philosophical works, especially when published as a collection"

http://encarta.msn.com/encnet/features/dictionary/DictionaryResults.aspx?refid=1861585383

"a collection of selected passages or excerpts from one or more authors."

Random House calls theirs a "quotationary" but that seems a bit too
linguistically simplistic. I shook the research tree fairly hard but
couldn't come up with anything else.
