Well Hello Google Answers,

I'm proposing to my soulmate this Thanksgiving week. I'd like for
whoever answers this question to be sincere and put their heart into
searching for a wonderful place! Thank you so much in advance.

Down to business!
Looking to rent an authentic log cabin. It doesn't have to be big and
fancy, it's just two of us and neither one of us are materialistic. I
would like to have a fireplace and have access to chop my own
firewood. I'd prefer if the log cabin be as isolated as possible - no
other cabins in sight would be ideal. I'd like it to be close to
mountains to hike on and a river to wade. Lots of trees and forest
necessary! Bike trails would be a plus. Driving distance to a cute
downtown historic little town with mom and pop stores also a plus.
Horseback riding or other things like not necessary, but a plus.

Please use your imagination! If you can think of other things, I've
very open. Feel free to ask questions or whatnot. Privacy, scenery,
and authenticity!

Details...
- Looking to stay for 2 or 3 nights
- Starting on either Nov. 20th or 21st
- Daily cabin rental up to $225 (not incl. tax etc.)
- Must have availability! So you may need to call or check otherwise
- Must be within 4 hours of VA zip 24060 (mapquest if you need)

Now I have googled "log cabin rental VA" and seen the results.
Unfortunately I am very busy with work so I don't have time. But I'm
looking for a really gorgeous place, not just a list of a bunch of
place. I'd like you to put your heart into this search and narrow it
down to 2 or 3 for me.

Thanks so very much!

Hello jgornter,

I'm working on your question, and have located three log cabins so
far. The offices are now closed, so I am reaching answering machines
when calling about availability. I will continue calling tomorrow, in
the morning.

How important is chopping your own wood? The cabins I found have
fireplaces, but untill I speak to someone who knows, I don't find that
listed on any of the sites. Would a wood burning stove suffice if
there is no fireplace?

Would you have a pet with you? Some of the cabins I have found do
not allow pets, or charge extra for them.

I also understand you want a "gorgeous" place. Would you consider a
rustic looking log cabin, with the amnenities you seek?

  Thank you,
  crabcakes

Hello jgornter,

I have further information on cabins for you. Thank you for your patience!

However, about the firewood chopping and fireplaces: Everyone I spoke
to said they do not allow firewood chopping, for insurance purposes.
Most cabins do not have wood burning stoves any longer, but gas log
firplaces, again for insurance purposes. It seems if the cabin has a
wood burning stove or fireplace, the cabin keepers are to provide the
wood, and wood chopping by the guest is prohibited.
