Dear fxfox,

Your Winchester 94 was manufactured in 1964. Serial numbers of the
year 1963 went from 2551922 to 2586000 and where then in 1964
re-aligned to start at 2700000. The Model 94 Winchesters made in 1964
have the serial numbers 2700000 to 2797428, so your rifle with the
number 2775942 derives definitely from 1964.

The question for the value of that rifle is, alas, a bit harder to
answer. The bad news is that the Winchester 94s manufactured in and
after 1964 do obviously not enjoy overwhelming appreciation with
collectors. This has a particular reason: In that year, Winchester
Repeating Arms Company made significant design changes to the rifle in
order to lower production costs. The simplifications had negative
impact on the weapon's overall quality and thus on its value in the
eyes of collectors. So a 1964 Winchester 94 has no particular value as
a collectors item. While I did not find specific statements on how
much the existence of the original leather case influences the market
value, I have found some statements on the general value of early
so-called "post-1964" Winchester 94 rifles and on their quality:

"Values for post 1964 manufacture Winchester Model 94 carbines in 95%
condition are in the $200 to $250 range."
Source: [1]

"All Win. Model 94's with serial numbers lower than 2700000 are "pre
'64" manufacture. Serial no. 2797428 was the last one made in 1964 and
no. 2894428 was the last '94 made in 1965 therefore yours is a 1965
rifle. It has no particular collectors value and pawn shops in the mid
west usually sell used ones from $150 to $185."
Source: [2]

"Angle Eject definitely means post '64, so collector value, unless it
is the Monte Carlo stocked 30-30 1st model should be minimal."
Source: [3]

"[...] the last 30-30 at the auction here brought $250 by itself but
was a mid 60's but not pre '64 model 94."
Source: [3]

"In 1964 Winchester made significant design changes in most of the
firearm lines that they were producing. The changes were intended to
lower production costs but most collectors agree that quality
suffered. Because of the 1964 changes, value for most models of pre-64
Winchester firearms is significantly higher than it is for post-64
production Winchester firearms."

I hope that this provides you a general impression on the possible
value of your Winchester 94. Of course, for an exact and reliable
appraisal, you would of have to consult an expert who will examine the
actual gun and take into account its individual state and flaws.

Thanks! This is all I really needed to know, and helps me a lot. Even
if someone wanted to buy it, that would be great, since I found it in
the basement of my new house that I bought.
