How can I help my sister, terrminal ALS (Lou Geehrig's disease) with life expectancy of less than 2 years, fulfill her greatest wish of meeting Steven Tyler of Aerosmith? She'll only be able travel for about 4 months before being bed bound, so time is obviously very precious. If an actual meeting is laughable what is the liklihood of Mr. Tyler phoning her? My sister never asks for anything- she seems to only know how to give, and I would love to help her dream come true. If nothing else is there a "Make a Wish Foundation" for adults? If so how do I contact them? I need up to date information. |

kenya1.. My deepest sympathies for what your sister and you are going through. I can't even begin to imagine the pain and heartache. The fact that you are doing all you can to make your sister's last days memorable is admirable. The Dream Foundation was founded 10 years ago because there were no agencies that were designed to provide wishes for terminally ill adults. Their requirements are that the paricipants be 18 years or older and have a life expectancy of 6 months or less. I realize that your sister has been given two years, but by starting the process now, you may be able to have everything in place for her when the time does come. The contact information for The Dream Foundation: Dream Foundation 621 Chapala St. Suite D Santa Barbara, Ca. 93101 Phone: 805-564-2131 Fax: 805-564-7002 http://www.dreamfoundation.com/index.html The application can be found at http://www.dreamfoundation.com/request.html and requires Adobe Acrobat Reader. The Fairygodmother Foundation is a another organization that has been established to provide wishes to terminally ill adults. Their requirements are the person be over 18 and are in their last year of life. They can be contacted at: mailing address: 1341 West Fullerton Avenue, Box 179 Chicago, Illinois 60614-2362 office address: 550 West Webster Chicago, Illinois 60614 phone: (773) 388-1160 fax: (773) 883-3656 info@fairygodmother.org http://www.fairygodmother.org/ As for having Stephen Tyler visit, or at least call, there may be a good chance of it happening as he has been involved with Make-a-wish, the children's organization, before. Wow. When I posted here today for the first time I certainly didn't expect so complete a response so early. Thank you, cryptica. You have nothing to gain by offering more information, but you did so anyway. And so generously! I'm really beginning to feel as if this could happen! Peace to you and yours- kenya1 |
