My OS, XP. Software, Acrobat 5.0.5. Trying to install universal adobe
ps driver, downloaded for Adobe (v 1.0.6i), winsteng.exe. Get System
Error 126 Unable to load string; and, System Error 1797 Printer driver
unknown, then Failure in AddPrinter (Acrobat Distiller). I have
followed recommended procedures:
Uninstall Acrobat
Restore framedyn.dll
Turn off System Restore :(
Reinstall Acrobat
All to no avail...I went to Google Groups and it seems this has been
happening but there doesn't yet seem to be an answer.
Thank you in advance for your consideration, time, and/or input.

I have since downloaded the 30-day free trial of Acrobat 6.0.

Uninstalled ALL packages that were Adobe prior to download.

First time thru, Typical Install, printer did not load.
Uninstalled.
Second time thru, Full Install, printer added.

When my 30 day has passed I will try the above process with Acrobat
5.0. I'm not expecting any great results as this version was not
designed to co-habitate with MS XP, although the Universal driver
should have addressed this.
