Dear betsy40-ga,
This is the information I have found which, unfortunately, is
incomplete as I cannot confirm some of the family tree. If the William
Livingstone you referred to died in 1913 then it has been reported
that he was the grandson of the explorer David Livingstone. However, I
am hesitant to state that as fact. Let me take you through what I have
found.
David Livingstone had no brothers by the name of William. He did have
a son named William Oswell Livingstone (better known as Oswell
Livingstone) but it appears he died in England in the late 19th
century.
I have found reference to a William Jervis Livingstone who died in
1913 in Malawi. His ancestor, Deirdre Livingstone, visited Malawi
recently and has given talks on the story of her ancestor. News
articles state that he was a grandson of David Livingstone. However, I
have not found a family tree proving this and you see referenced below
the Rootsweb site which states that the information is patchy on some
parts of the Livingstone family tree.
This is the family tree from Rootsweb.

William Oswell Livingstone is reported to have died in England 1892.

Oswell took part with Henry Morton Stanley in the attempt to find his
father. You will see references to it in this book.

This is other Livingstones who may or may not be connected. See
reference to one William Jervis Livingston born in 1865. I do not know
if this is the same person.

I also searched archive copies of The Times newspaper for this period
and did not find any information.
These are the references to the Malawi matter.

?A descendant of David Livingstone, the Scottish missionary, is to
return to Africa to make peace with tribes who slaughtered her
grandfather, David's grandson, almost a century ago. Deirdre
Livingstone, 48, the great-great grand-daughter of the famous Scot,
has been fascinated by her grandfather's horrific murder during the
vicious but little-known Chilembwe Rising in Malawi in 1915.?

?Most of the revolt was near Blantyre (which is named after
Livingstone's home town in Scotland), and was within 50 miles of the
city. One group of Chilembwe's men went to an estate called Magomero,
about 20 miles from Blantyre, and well known to all of us recent
missionaries. The estate was owned by David Livingstone's grandson,
Alexander Livings-tone Bruce. It was managed by William Jervis
Livingstone, another relative of Livingstone. William Jervis
Livingstone was killed in the raid, beheaded, and his head was
displayed on a pole while Chilembwe preached at the Sunday service the
next day.?
