Dear dtnl42-ga,

I wasn?t quite sure how complex you wanted this answer to be. So I
shall break you in gently and lead up to the full air traffic control
data.

This is a simple map of London Heathrow Airport ?LHR? with the
standard instrument departure routes marked out. You will note they
all have various names and abbreviations. These will referred to in
the later sources.

This web site belongs to Garry Lewis, an Air Traffic Controller in
London. This page and the following four, set out the structure of the
United Kingdom airspace (maps included)
http://avsim.com/atco/latcc.htm

This page sets out in some detail, the standard routes into LHR and
how air traffic is managed
http://avsim.com/geoffschool/combined/HeathrowSTARs.htm

All the above now leads you into the more complex instructions on routes into LHR.

This site by International Virtual Aviation Organization provides air
traffic control specifications for computer simulators, but is derived
from information supplied by Scandinavian airlines.

Scroll down to the heading ?Approach Maps? Download the file zip file
called ?egllasir.zip? It contains a pdf file which sets out in
technical terms, the routes, stacking areas, descent instructions, all
with maps and diagrams.

This site has additional technical information and maps.
http://www.nobleair.com/hubs/lhr/egll.html

I have referred you to these simulator sites as the National Air
Traffic Services which provides up-to-date notification of any changes
to routes, requires registration.

I hope this answers your question. If it does not, or the answer is
unclear, then please ask for clarification of this research before
rating the answer. I shall respond to the clarification request as
soon as I receive it.
Thank you
