Who conquered more territory: Alexander the Great, or Genghis Khan?

I enjoyed reading a book called Time's Eye by Arthur C. Clarke and S. Baxter.
It has Alexander's army clashing with Genghis Khan's.

An interesting twist to this question would be who ruled more
territory? and for how long, I see possible answers like Russia,
England (prior to 1947).
