My experience with that scanner under Win2000 might help. My 1670 scanner was working just fine until my USB port died. Having reformatted the hard disk whilst trying to identify the USB problem, I reinstated backed-up data from a CD. When I reinstalled the scanner I got exactly the messages you have quoted. I fixed it by telling the scanner to use a different 'work area' (go to Configuration .. Other). I assume therefore that the problem is with access permissions to the place where the scanner stores its temporary files. |

hello Mike, I have exactly the same problem under w2000 with service pack 4 installed. I have re-installed windows on my hard drive and this problem started. I am not getting even one scan. It keeps giving the message "scanner is unable to allocate memory. quit other applications". In my configuration, there are no other applications except Epson's smart panel. You indicated that you fixed it by telling scanner to use a different work area. Can you please give some specifics on this. How exactly you do this. I don't see any configuration options in smart panel. Thanks in advance |
