I have a wireless network of 1 labtop running windows xp professioanl and a desktop running windows 2k professional.the two computers can connect to the internet but a shared folder on the desktop, the labtop cant access it. How can i access the shared folder on the desktop.When I open the my network places icon on the desktop, i can see the two computers but when I double click the labtop icon, so that i can see the files, it gives me error message saying, the ||name of the computer not accessible the network path was not found.If i do same process from the labtop, it says the same error message but all of them can connect to the internet.Any help of how to configure the pcs to talk to each other |

Hi A couple of possibilities. Do you have firewalls running on either machine? If so turn them off briefly and see if that solves the problem. If it does, you need to change the trusted zone permissions to include the IP addresses for the individual machines or the range of your local network. Exact method for this will vary depending on the individual firewall. If that does not work try the solutions here: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=318030 |

also make sure there is no vpn client running on your desktop. and you have enabled the printer and file sharing in network properties |

make sure the usernames are on both computers (your login names) after then http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;304040 its most likely a permission problem more then likely that page will solve your problem.. it has a video too! |
