Hello,

We're in need of a list of commercial printers in Western Washington
State (or in the Portland, OR area) who offer web-offset heatset printing.
As I understand it, there are about 20 such printers in the area, but I
have no idea where to get a list. The few that we are aware of are
Consolidated Press, Valco Printing, Journal Graphics and
Rotary Offset Press.

Again, we're looking for a list of, specifically, web-offset heatset
printers. Someone who is not familiar with printing might send us
links to the many sheetfed, or non-heatset, printers in the area,
which wouldn't in fact help us at all.

Thanks for considering our question!

Hi alfajor!!

I lived in Argentina and also work in a printing company as pressman
of a Heidelberg M-3026 two-web offset press.
I found two places where you can start your search, but unfortunately
I cannot find a list with a HEATSET category.
I think that you can start searching at the following places:
"Printing Directory USA":
http://printing.directoryusa.biz/index.php

"Printing Companies in Portland, OR":
http://printing.directoryusa.biz/OR/Portland/1/listings.php

"Printing Companies in Seattle, WA":
http://printing.directoryusa.biz/WA/Seattle/1/listings.php

Yes, the above directories do not specify the type of printing company
listed, but may be help you I hope.

Try also contacting the Pacific Printing and Imaging (PPI), a
non-profit trade association serving the Pacific Northwest (Idaho,
Montana, Oregon, and Washington), Alaska, and Hawaii:
http://www.pacprinting.org/pages/contact.asp

Unfortunately their online database is not helpful, you can consult it at:
http://www.printaccess.com/perl/pia?stype=aff&aff=ppi

I can also add the RR Donnelley plant at Portland:
Portland Manufacturing Plant
17401 N.E. Halsey Street
Portland, OR 97230-6099

I hope that this helps you a little in your search.

we made in Argentina?

Hi Livioflores-ga,

Yes absolutely, my name alfajor is all about that delectable wonder of Argentina,
and I'm from Buenos Aires myself so I grew up on them, you might say.

Thanks so much for taking time to research my question ... even though the
links aren't exactly what we need, they may provide a starting place. If there
was a way to send a partial payment for a partial answer, we would certainly
do so! Or maybe send a box of alfajores!

It looks like we may have found the printer we were looking for, through word
of mouth, and so for now I think I'll close the question.

Thank you again, and have a great 2005!
Guido (alfajor-ga)
