I use a chat application to play a game (Pioneers of Peru). It worked
fine until a week or so ago. Now I get an asynchronous socket error
10060 when I try to login. I have received this error on two
different computers (and two different ISPs). How can I fix this?

Just to clarify -- I get this message about 15 seconds after trying to
logon. It is not an outlook related error (I don't use outlook).

Hello Calguy25,

Please clarify the operating system you are using (e.g., Microsoft
Windows XP, Linux).

See also
  http://www.sockets.com/err_lst1.htm#WSAETIMEDOUT
which provides a brief explanation of the error (on Windows) and
possible solutions. For example, the chat application may be accessing
a server that no longer exists (at the address configured for it).

I'm on Windows XP -- it worked fine until last week. I didn't change
the OS. I'm wondering if it isn't a server problem on their end...
but I don't know what to do to verify. I tried contacting them but
haven't heard back. I also ran a virus scan and cleaned my registry
since apparently there is a virus which might cause problems (?)
