I want to map a drive over the internet between two computers. Both computers are behing linksys routers (i have full control over both). Both networks use NAT. I have a Win2003 and WinXP box on each network. I'd rather not set up a VPN. |

A brief pointer: There are a few solutions you may want to consider (other than PCAnywhere or similar products). One is a VNC with file transfer capability - Ultr@VNC does this (http://ultravnc.sourceforge.net/ ), and other VNC server/clients may also do it by now. You may also consider the WebDAV feature (websearch for an introduction and use) and see http://www.webdav.org/ for the resources - the software listing is at http://www.webdav.org/projects/ -- I am not an official GA researcher. |

You can also try to map the NETBOIS-Ports through your router. These are 137, 138, 139 as well as 445. After that you can Map your drive over Explorer Menü Tools>Map Network Drive with the public IP of your router. (Ex. \\213.1.232.122\c$) For me this worx ok, but SECURITY-RISKY ouououo!!! greez kim |
