I thought I could figure this one out since I know a little German, but I give up. Somehow this company is link between the two: Ostdeutsche Baustoffwerke GmbH-Goleschauer Portland Zement AG Site: http://www.auschwitz.org.pl/html/eng/historia_KL/podobozy_kl_auschwitz_ok.html "Golleschau in Goleszów, July 1942 - January 1945, labor in SS cement plant, company: Ostdeutsche Baustoffwerke GmbH-Goleschauer Portland Zement AG, 1,008 prisoners (January 17, 1945). " Good Luck |

According to http://edison.rutgers.edu/ecopart4.htm "Edison Portland Cement Company" "was renamed the Edison Cement Corporation" "in December 1931". Does your question, therefore, refer to the "Edison Cement Corporation"? The cement factory in Golleschau started in the then Austrian part of Poland in 1889: http://www.polskicement.com.pl/?s=1/3/1/0 Goleszów was occupied by Germany in September 1939. Does your question refer to the pre-1939 Polish factory and / or to the factory under German occupation? |

To fp-ga: The question refers to both periods. Additionally, the portland cement patented by Edison was used by Flagler when he extended the railroad down to Key West over the Seven Mile Bridge. The concrete pylons are still in excellent shape as is the pool built at the Edison winter residence in Ft. Myers. The concrete may have come by barge from Gollescha but I don't know for sure. |

I do have an angle to it... but I am not sure about the type of link that you are looking for. i.e. What kind of link are you looking for ? >> The machinery >> The people >> The product Please let me know & maybe I can help you out. The question is focused on the corporate geneaology of the Edison Portland Cement Co. and its various (possible)foreign progeny. When Thomas Edison's son became chairman of the Edison Portland Cement Co. what was the corporate relationship of it to the Golleshau Portland Cement Co., if any? |
