Is this the sort of thing you're looking for:

http://www.warresisters.org/piechart.htm

It shows the military portion of federal outlays amounting to 28%,
plus another 18% associated with "past military" expenses (veteran's
benefits, debt, etc).

33% of the budget goes to "human resources".

Let me know if this is what you were after.

Thanks,

Hello Jim,

I don't really follow your question about the pie-chart? The link I gave earlier:

http://www.warresisters.org/piechart.htm

is a link to a pie chart. Is there something else you need in addition to this?

Let me know...I'm at your service.

Jim,

I'm glad I was able to help you out on this one. Just to repeat the
link I provided, the pie chart you need is here:

http://www.warresisters.org/piechart.htm

It shows the military portion of federal outlays amounting to 28%,
plus another 18% associated with "past military" expenses (veteran's
benefits, debt, etc).

33% of the budget goes to "human resources".

Again, let me know if you need anything else on this.

Just a quick note from this part of the peanut gallery:

The link provided clearly has a distinct agenda for putting out their
information. I didn't check their numbers, however the pie chart
quoted (the big one on the page) is not the correct answer to the
question.

The question asked about the "percentage of the federal budget", and
it seems obvious to me that social security is a large part of the
federal budget (wheras the answer suggests that social security is not
part of the federal budget).

I would like to expect to find a less biased link in a google answer
about an unbiased question. If the question itself seemed biased in
this direction (ie the question stated that social security is not
part of the federal budget and that the questioner is trying to make a
claim that the US is wasting too much money on Iraq) then this site
would be perfect, however Jimbensch made no such claims.
