Question ID: 479721
I want to find a pay telephone location by using the telephone number
(a reverse look up really) is this possible? These phones typically have no
ability to receive calls. For specific reference, the number is
905-853-1085 but would like to know if this can be done in general -
like a trace.

Hi there,

I have not been able to find a free service that will allow the
reverse look-up of payphone location, but I have found a reliable
service provider that will do it for $30.
If this is acceptable, please let me know.

Actually no, I don't think this should be a "pay-for" service and
in-fact should be public knowledge i.e. I should be able to know where
I can locate a public phone as by definition, they are public.

Hi Fonetic,

I have your query narrowed down to city and province, but have yet to
nail down the precise location.

In answer to the general part of your question, yes, payphone
locations can be looked up, but not always accurately. Payphones are
removed or replaced often or sold to different payphone service
providers, so the numbers change.

There are a number of payhpone resources about, all maintained by
volunteers. They don't guarantee that they have the number you're
looking for, but they've got a whopping huge collection of numbers.
If those reseources are sufficient for your purposes, do let me know.

There is no answer at this time.
