kyki-ga,

I'm working on your question for you, but if you have a moment, I'd
appreciate a bit of clarification.

SCE has a lengthy list of energy efficiency contractors in their
service area, but this not an "approved" list...just a compilation of
contractors that they are aware of.

On the other hand, PGE has a much smaller list of about 15 or so
energy efficiency contractors that are officially approved by PGE as
part of their partnership program.

The PGE list includes American Synergy, Sundowner, and Western Insulation.

The SCE list -- although much longer -- only includes American
Synergy, but I didn't see the others you mentioned.

My question: Is one or the other of these resources preferable for
you, or would you simply like them both -- along with any other
information I can find -- as an answer to your question?

Let me know, if you have the chance.

kyki_2005-ga,

Thanks for clarifying what you're after.

I'm going to direct you to several online resources that I trust will
meet your needs...each one identifies contractors and organizations
that perform some aspect of building energy conservation services in
California, often in partnership with utilities in the state.

If -- for any reason -- these resources are not what you needed, or if
you find you'd like additional information, just let me know by
posting a Request for Clarification, and I'll be happy to assist you
further.

All the best,

The Southern California Edison list that I mentioned the other day can
be found here:

http://www.sce.com/NR/rdonlyres/D9FD24E9-74F7-4BAA-862E-3414A72BF803/0/Appendix_E_102904.pdf

It is 28 pages long and contains several hundred vendors.

The list notes that:

-----
.....SCE does not endorse a specific contractor, distributor,
retailer, other product supplier or manufacturer (?Vendor?) and
encourages customers to request more than one bid or quote when
considering equipment replacement or energy efficiency services. This
list of Vendors is not comprehensive. SCE energy efficiency program
planners and support staff developed the list from available
information. The list will be updated twice a year.

.....If you are a business providing energy efficiency-related
services and would like to be included on a future list, please
provide your company?s name, business address, phone number, web
address and specialty to Bill Grimm at SCE: Telephone: 626-302-8131
Fax 626-302-3185. Email: bill.grimm@sce.com
-----

Vendor listings are straightforward, such as these first few:

Aloha Systems, Inc 14801 Comet St
Irvine, CA 92604
(949) 851-2221

BRP (Bio Renewable Projects) 1780 Kettner Blvd Ste 809
San Diego, CA 92101
(858) 344-0159

East/West Electric & Service Company 1595 No. Arrowhead Ave, Ste#107
San Bernardino, CA 92405
(909) 886-5555

Electrical Energy Solutions Inc 2321 E 28th St. Ste. 404
Signal Hill, CA 90755
(562) 492-9774

and the full set of vendors/consultants are listed under numerous categories:

Energy Efficiency Agricultural/Motors Vendors

Energy Efficiency Lighting Vendors

Energy Efficiency A/C & Heating Vendors

Energy Efficiency Refrigeration Vendors

Energy Efficiency Refrigeration Vendors

Energy Efficiency Contractors

Energy Efficiency Window Film Vendors

Energy Efficiency Food Service Vendors

Another SCE vendor list can be found here:

http://www.sce.com/NR/sc3/tm2/pdf/1491-E-I.pdf

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON ENERGY EFFICIENCY VENDOR LIST
Low Income Energy Efficiency Services
Vendors/Contractors

This list is much more diverse, and includes swimming pool vendors,
appliance supply stores, and so on. But part of the residential part
of the list in Appendix D looks to be quite on target for your
interests.

For instance, one of the listings is for:

Proteus, Inc.
Assessment/Installation
1830 N. Dinuba Blvd.
Visalia, 93291
(559) 733-5423
(559) 738-1137 Fax

which I believe is the correct name for the company you indicated as "Prodius".

The Sierra Club has compiled a very useful resource that contains
links to many of conservation programs in the state -- at large
utilities as well as town and county-level programs -- and includes,
as well, a list of service providers:

http://www.sierraclub.org/globalwarming/cleanenergy/conservation/family_guide.pdf
A Family Guide to Saving Energy and Money

Note in particular the list on the last two pages of the report for
"Low-income Energy Service Providers" which includes a listing of
mixed services -- local governments, non-profits, private companies --
that can assist homeowners in energy conservation. The listing is
"Low-income energy providers by County" and a sampling of a few of the
entries are:

Alameda ? Spectrum Community Services, Inc.,(510) 881-0300

Calaveras ? Calaveras/Mariposa Community Action Agency,(209) 966-3609

Imperial ? Campesinos Unidos, Incorporated,(760) 344-6300

Los Angeles ? Maravilla Foundation,(323) 838-8082

and so on...

The Environmental Yellow Pages -- California Edition can be found at:

http://www.enviroyellowpages.com/listings/USA/CA/fd24440e5c274c5a17ac2313def94407/

Their list of "Energy Management & Conservation Consultants" in
California is quite extensive -- there appear to be several hundred
listings here -- and probably go beyond companies that focus mostly on
residential services. Just the same, I thought the list would be of
interest to you.

====================

Lastly, Pacific Gas and Electric runs what they call their "Energy
Partners Program" which teams up with a select group of pre-qualified
service providers to perform conservation work in the communities
served by PG&E.

The program is described here;

http://www.pge.com/res/financial_assistance/energy_partners/

and the list of actual "energy partners" is here:

http://www.pge.com/res/financial_assistance/energy_partners/energy_partners_2003/
