The figures at the link in the above Request for Clarification above
don't quite agree with those taken from the table in a zip file at
this
site: http://users.chariot.net.au/~gmarts/eastcalc.htm
For the years in question, this document places the dates of Easter on
the Western, Orthodox and Julian calendars thusly:
WESTERN ORTHODOX JULIAN
------------- ------------- -------------
30 March 1975 4 May 1975 21 April 1975
18 April 1976 25 April 1976 12 April 1976
10 April 1977 10 April 1977 28 March 1977
26 March 1978 30 April 1978 17 April 1978
15 April 1979 22 April 1979 9 April 1979
6 April 1980 6 April 1980 24 March 1980
19 April 1981 26 April 1981 13 April 1981
11 April 1982 18 April 1982 5 April 1982
3 April 1983 8 May 1983 25 April 1983
22 April 1984 22 April 1984 9 April 1984
7 April 1985 14 April 1985 1 April 1985
I was curious about this question because I was born the night before
Easter on April 8, 1950, which means that April 9, 1950 was Easter,
and this file bears that out for the Western calendar. However, not
once in the nearly 55 years since then has my birthday fallen on
Easter, though it looks as though my 57th birthday *will* be on Easter
according to the Western calendar.
Further, according to this file, Easter has fallen on the 7th of April
twice according to the Western calendar, in 1985 and 1996, though not
on the 9th. According to the Orthodox calendar, it has fallen on the
7th once, in 1991, and twice on the 9th, in 1961 and 1972.
However, this set of dates also concurs that Easter has not fallen on
April 9th during the time period of 1975-1985.
So, the question is, how would you like us to proceed in light of the
fact that published sources apparently disagree as to the "official"
dates of Easter, and it would seem that none place Easter on April 9
during the years you're asking about?
Thank you,
