Hello there,

There are tons of materials available on wrongful death cases in both
state and federal courts. However, most of them do not provide
clearcut contact information (addresses/phones) for the parties
involved, so that tracking down such contact information would involve
additional work.

For instance, you can find links to thousands of wrongful death cases
at the results of this Google search I created:

Here's a link to one of the cases on the list that I chose at random:

http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/cgi-bin/getcase.pl?court=10th&navby=case&no=033183

----------
RAYMOND ELIO ESPOSITO,

v.

UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,

MAY 26 2004

The deceased Raymond Elio Esposito, through his counsel, appeals from
the district court's order dismissing his complaint for wrongful death
filed pursuant to the Federal Tort Claims Act.....
----------

You can read the case in its entirely, but in order to get contact
information for the estate of Mr. Esposito, you would need to access
the actual court records.

The list above concerns ONLY wrongful death cases, although it is a
straightforward process to create similar lists for other topics, such
as "personal injury".

Let me know if this helps at all.

Thanks.

I think you've answered my question (though, as a suggestion, if a
researcher needs more info, there should be an easier way to find how
to help them.)

But I needed to know more than anything else, if that info is
available (cost isn't the issue), and it would seem that it is.

Thanks, and if you can offer any more, it would be appreciated.

morder11-ga,

I'm glad the information on case law, and the links I provided, were
able to meet your needs.

There's one additional resource you should know about, however.

A site called LexisOne is a professional service for small law firms
that allows you to search for federal or state cases. Although this
is a fee-based service, you can register at the site at no charge, and
search cases from the past five years for free. It's a terrific
resource:

Near the top of the page on the right is some text and a link:

-----

Free Caselaw
Search free LexisNexis? case law for the past 5 years and U.S. Supreme
Court decisions from 1790.

-----

Click here to register, and you're then able to begin exploring.
Select your jurisdiction of interest, and you'll be able to search for
terms like [ wrongful death ], [personal injury ], or any other terms
of interest to you.

I'm sure you'll find this a very valuable tool in your work.

Please don't rate this answer until you feel you have all the
information you need. Just post a Request for Clarification if you
would like additional assistance.

All the best,

OK, here's the real question - where should I turn (or most likely
turn) to get a "list" of claimants (names and addresses) involved in
personal injury / wrongful death cases?

morder11-ga,

I just wanted to let you know that I haven't forgotten you. I've been
exploring some alternative sources of information for both your
questions, and hope to have an update in the next day or so. I have
to admit, though, I haven't been finding much, yet, beyond what I've
already provided.

Stay tuned, and we'll see what turns up...

morder11-ga,

Despite a lot of looking around and tweaking of resources, I have not
come across any way of accessing a list of names and addresses of
parties to particular types of cases.

As you can see from the links to cases I provided earlier, addresses
are usually not included. This information IS often available in the
case docket kept by the courts, but accessing the docket often means
travelling to the courthouse itself.

Some courts do make docket information available online, but even
here, there was no easy way I could see to pull out the contact
information.

If there is a particular court of interest(e.g. such-and-such County
in a given state), I'd be glad to poke around in a bit more detail and
see if any dockets are available online and whether they can be
tweaked to provide contact information.

Best of luck with this,

paf
